Pyongyang Symposium on Medical Science Held
Pyongyang, May 5 (KCNA) -- The 11th Pyongyang symposium of Koreans at home and abroad on medical science took place at the People's Palace of Culture on May 4 and 5.

Present there were officials in the field of public health including Ri Pong Hun, chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Medical Association, and medical scientists, a delegation of Korean doctors in Japan led by Ri Tae Guk, chairman of the Korean Medical Association in Japan, and a delegation of Korean doctors in the U.S. led by Pak Mun Jae, vice-chairman of the Federation of Koreans in the U.S.

Ri Pong Hun said in an opening address at the symposium that he hoped the symposium would make a positive contribution to putting the medical science and technology of the nation on a new level in the idea of "By our nation itself" and achieving the eternal prosperity of the country.

Congratulatory speeches were made by the heads of the above-said delegations.

A video titled "The Pyongyang Symposium of Koreans at Home and Abroad on Medical Science" was shown there.

Then followed internal medicine and external medicine panel discussions.

Its participants heard dozens of valuable papers including "On the headache", "The surgical treatment of cerebral apoplexy", "Study of early diagnosis of lung cancer" and "Medical service to cancer cases".

The papers introduced successes and experience gained in solving the urgent scientific and technological problems arising in the constitutional characteristics of Koreans and public health practices in the DPRK and introducing ultra-modern science and technology to the prevention of diseases and their treatment.
