Candlelight Action in Seoul
Pyongyang, May 5 (KCNA) -- People from all walks of life staged an anti-"government" candlelight action in Seoul on May 2 one year since the candlelight struggle against the unpopular rule of traitor Lee Myung Bak raged.

It was participated in by members of civic and public organizations including the Joint Conference of Citizens for Candlelight Actions, the Solidarity for Progress of south Korea, the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification, the Press Trade Union and the Solidarity for Patriotic Candlelight Actions, youth and students, figures of opposition parties and citizens from all walks of life.

The action lasted for seven hours in the acute confrontation with fascist policemen.

The participants in the action forced the riot police to leave Seoul Railway Station before holding a candlelight meeting.

The speakers at the meeting bitterly condemned the authorities for their vicious moves to block the meeting, demanding that "Lee Myung Bak be dragged out of Chongwadae to the plaza."

They declared that they would show once again the candlelight raised by the people will never go out just as the recent "by-election of members of the National Assembly" served a warning to the Lee Myung Bak regime and the "Grand National Party."

A declaration read out at the meeting made it clear that the people in this land angered by the unpopular rule of the Lee regime have turned out in this joint struggle, unable to endure the present sufferings any longer.

The Lee regime should bear in mind that if it persists in its moves to enact various kinds of evil laws or make a retrogressive revision of the existing ones in a bid to wantonly infringe upon the people's right of existence, incriminate the just activities of civic and public organizations and suppress them, this will be little short of digging its grave itself, it warned.

At the end of the meeting, the participants staged a demonstration.

Meanwhile, the south Korean Federation of University Students in the 21st Century held an anti-"government" meeting and staged a demonstration in Seoul on the same day and students in middle and higher schools from across south Korea held a candlelight meeting.
