UN Should Not Allow Itself to Be Abused for Serving Specified Forces' Hegemonic Purposes
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The United Nations is by no means the world body to be abused for implementing the policies of such specified forces as the U.S. for aggression and domination.

Rodong Sinmun Monday observes this in a signed article.

It cites facts to prove that aggressions and wars were frequent in different parts of the world for the past more than six decades of the existence of UN but in many cases it failed to take practical measures to prevent them.

It goes on:

Wrong resolutions were adopted by the UN and implemented. The responsibility for this entirely rests with the U.S., a permanent member nation of the UN Security Council.

While pursuing its policy of aggression and war towards other countries and nations in the past, the U.S. used the signboard of UN when the situation was favorable to it and unilaterally behaved in disregard of UN when the situation was unfavorable to it.

Recalling that the UNSC keeps adopting unjust documents still today under the pressure of the U.S., the article notes that this is clearly evidenced by the recent "presidential statement" of the UNSC critical of the DPRK's satellite launch for peaceful purposes.

It continues: Throughout the history of the UN the UNSC has never called into question launches of satellites for peaceful purposes. This being a hard reality, it tabled and discussed the issue of the DPRK's satellite launch for peaceful purposes only and took such a brigandish step as adopting the unprecedentedly unreasonable "presidential statement." This was an extremely unfair application of double standards and arbitrary practice.

The UNSC also perpetrated such grave provocation as illegally implementing sanctions against the DPRK under the pretext of the "presidential statement" which has no binding force. The recent unjust action taken by the UNSC goes to prove that the UN can neither ensure global peace and security nor properly observe the principles of international justice and impartiality as long as the U.S. is allowed to continue pursuing unilateral, hegemonic and high-handed policies, sitting on the hardcore mechanism of the UN.

The only way of defending the sovereignty of the country and nation and ensuring peace and security is for each country and nation to bolster up its military muscle for self-defence by relying on its own strength.

The UN should draw a serious lesson of history, abide by the principles of international justice and impartiality and properly exercise its authority. Only then can the UN gain confidence of the international community and make a fair contribution to ensuring global peace and security and the sound development of the international relations.
