Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace
Pyongyang, May 2 (KCNA) -- The Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace of the DPRK is a centre of extracurricular education for youth and schoolchildren.

The palace, founded in May Juche 78 (1989), is permeated with warm love of the peerlessly great men.

President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il sent lots of education and edification facilities and took all measures for strengthening the material and technological foundation of the palace, saying that there is nothing to spare for the children.

The palace, with an area of 300,000 square meters, has a science building, an art building, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, a 2,000-seat modern theater and the like.

It has brought up lots of schoolchildren as able reserves of special fields over last two decades.

It produced more than 20 winners of special prizes and gold medals in international contests and hundreds of sports reserves to make a contribution to the sports development of the country.

The Pyongyang Schoolchildren's Art Troupe formed by art circle members of the palace made successful performance tours of many countries such as China, Russia, France and Malaysia.

Over 5,000 schoolchildren take part in extracurricular activities in the palace every day to grow up as pillars of the country.
