Research Achievements in Mariculture
Pyongyang, May 2 (KCNA) -- The Microbiological Institute under the State Academy of Sciences of the DPRK has made successes in the researches into mariculture recently.

Scientists of the institute have succeeded in separating various kinds of one-cell sea algae with high nutrition and establishing the technology of preserving their pure breed and mass-culture in the sea water areas of the country.

The successes were registered in the course of research to solve the problem of basic fodder of sea animals.

They also successfully applied this technology to artificial cultivation of the sea animals such as sea cucumber, short neck clam and puffer.

They developed and introduced a new fodder additive needed for breeding fish.

Feeding fish on the by-products of sea weeds and fodder processed and treated with microorganism additive makes it possible to prevent the mass-death of fry and increase their survival and weight increment rate.

They also developed a new fodder additive by microbiological method. It contains the nutritive elements like natural ones with which the fry hatch out from the egg.

The achievements pay off profusely in various units.
