Lee Myung Bak Regime Urged to Step down
Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- The Action Headquarters of the 17th-term south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) issued a resolution on April 25 calling for the actions to force the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors to step down on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of the formation of Hanchongryon.

The resolution recalled that since its formation Hanchongryon has waged a positive struggle for the independence of campus, democracy of society and the independent reunification of the country.

In the past the security authorities have detained so many young patriotic people and even taken their lives through the repressive campaigns to stamp out Hanchongryon, but they could not quell the patriotic enthusiasm and righteous conscience of the youth and students, the resolution noted.

It accused the Lee Myung Bak regime of suppressing the movement for social democracy and reunification, labeling Hanchongryon and the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration and other pro-reunification patriotic organizations as "enemy-benefiting ones" on charges of violation of the "National Security Law".

The resolution charged that the present regime has brought the south-north relations to complete collapse by totally negating the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, milestones for reunification, and tightening the "war alliance" with the U.S.

It declared that Hanchongryon would stage dynamic actions to force the Lee Myung Bak regime to step down and achieve independent reunification.
