Implementation of Three Charters for National Reunification Called for
Pyongyang, April 24 (KCNA) -- The three charters for national reunification are guidelines which all the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad should invariably hold fast to till the victory of the cause of national reunification is achieved, says Rodong Sinmun Friday in a signed article.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il formulated the three principles of national reunification, the ten-point programme for the great unity of the entire nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo initiated by President Kim Il Sung as three charters for national reunification.

The three principles -- independence, peaceful reunification and the great national unity -- clarify the fundamental stand and ways for solving the reunification issue of the country by the efforts of the Koreans themselves as desired by the nation and in its interests.

The ten-point programme which clarifies the establishment of an independent, peaceful and neutral unified state as the final goal of the great national unity defines patriotism and the spirit of national independence as an ideological groundwork for unity and the promotion of co-existence, co-prosperity and common interests between the north and the south as a basic principle of unity.

The proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo indicates a basic way for reunifying the country without any deviation on the basis of the north and the south recognizing and tolerating each other's ideologies and systems.

It is thanks to the three charters, guidelines for national reunification movement, that the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration, a programme for implementing it, were provided and the new historic era for achieving independent reunification by the concerted efforts of the Koreans was ushered in.

The fundamental problems for solving the issue of the destiny of the nation, the reunification issue by the concerted efforts of the Koreans explained in the three charters are clarified in the north-south joint declarations.

The struggle to implement the inter-Korean declarations is precisely the struggle to implement the three charters for national reunification. The implementation of the declarations guarantees national independence and the country's reunification.

All the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad should pool their strength and achieve the cause of independent reunification without fail under the uplifted banner of the three charters for national reunification and the inter-Korean joint declarations, its embodiment.
