Pyongyang, April 23 (KCNA) -- University professors and researchers from across south Korea under the Professors Trade Union, the Council of Professors for Democracy and the Council of Academic Organizations on April 19 published a declaration on the situation denouncing traitor Lee Myung Bak's moves to stamp out democracy.
The declaration recalled that the participants in the April 19 uprising laid down their lives for social democracy in resistance against the Syngman Rhee dictatorial regime.
Democracy has been ruthlessly trampled down in this land due to the undemocratic violence by the Lee Myung Bak regime, it noted, adding that for the more than one year since the emergence of the present regime it has committed countless high-handed and arbitrary practices.
It held that only when all the democratic forces struggle in firm unity can they put an end to the repressive rule of the present regime and protect the people's democratic rights and vital rights.
It stressed that university professors and researchers would wage a widespread campaign for exposing and denouncing the undemocratic atrocities of the Lee Myung Bak regime and boost the solidarity and unity with the organizations representing people of all strata.
