Lee Myung Bak Group's Anti-Reunification Confrontational Moves Flailed
Pyongyang, April 22 (KCNA) -- The gentries of the Grand National Party of south Korea on April 16 tabled "a bill on revising the law on supporting the education in unification" to the "Committee for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Unification of the National Assembly".

As regards this "bill" they insisted on bringing the issue of the non-governmental organizations engaged in the education in unification they claimed "encroached upon the basic order of liberal democracy" to investigation organs, etc., and stopping the financial assistance to them but rendering financial and administrative support to the members of "the organization for the education in unification" representing the stand of the "government".

This bill was reportedly referred to the "Sub-Committee for Deliberation on Bills" after its passing through the above-said committee chaired by a GNP heavyweight.

In this connection the "Consultative Council for the Education in Unification" grouping at least 90 non-governmental organizations termed the bill as an evil bill aimed at deliberately making the progressive activities for the education in unification wear down and turning the society conservative.

The organization deplored that if the bill is carried, all forms of education will be conducted to cater to the taste of the "government" and the activities of non-governmental organizations be held in check.

The organization held that the GNP's move to revise the above-mentioned law is an extension of the moves to render the education in unification conservative which have been pushed forward in real earnest since the emergence of the Lee Myung Bak "government".

Meanwhile, those concerned of the opposition parties were of the view that the carriage of the above-said bill would further facilitate the process of turning the education in unification conservative.
