Fair Judgment on Solidarity Members Called for in S. Korea
Pyongyang, April 21 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Progress of south Korea, the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration, the People's Solidarity for Abrogation of the "National Security Law" and other civic and social organizations held a press conference in Seoul on April 17 to demand a fair judgment on the core members of the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration.

At the conference the speakers accused the prosecution of sentencing the said members to such heavy penalties as prison terms up to 9 years on April 3.

They declared that if the judicial authorities label activities for implementing the June 15 joint declaration as "enemy-benefiting" ones at the trial to be held on April 21 and brand the solidarity as an "enemy-benefiting organization," they will meet stronger resistance of the people.

A press release read out at the conference denounced the prosecution for labeling the activities of the members of the solidarity, a legitimate non-governmental reunification movement organization, "enemy-benefiting, illegal and spying acts" overnight.

The punishment imposed upon the core members of the solidarity is little short of judging the June 15 era by the yardstick dating back to the Cold War era, it said, accusing the prosecution of "acting a waiting maid of the Lee Myung Bak regime pursuing a policy of confrontation with fellow countrymen".
