Attending it were Chief Vice-Chairman Ho Jong Man and vice-chairmen of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), the chairman of the Central Audit Committee of Chongryon and others.

Ho Jong Man in his report said that the hearts of the Koreans in Japan are overwhelmed with great national pride and honor as the Day of the Sun this year is being commemorated in an exciting period when General Secretary Kim Jong Il was reelected to the top post of the state and the satellite Kwangmyongsong-2 was launched successfully, stirring the world.

He praised the President for liberating the country from the Japanese imperialists, defeating the U.S. imperialists and leading the Fatherland Liberation War to victory and turning the DPRK into a socialist power independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence.

The Workers' Party of Korea which has grown stronger thanks to the single-minded unity, the invincible people's armed forces and solid foundation of the independent national economy would be unthinkable without the tireless efforts of the President, he stressed.

He lauded the President for putting forward a patriotic line and proposals for reunification, regarding national reunification as the supreme task of the nation and leading all the fellow countrymen to the movement for accomplishing the cause of reunification.

The President's whole life was a boundlessly noble life dedicated to Chongryon and Koreans in Japan, he noted.

Referring to the fact that the undying feats performed by the President are being successfully carried forward and developed by Kim Jong Il, the reporter declared that the officials of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan would bring about a fresh turn in the movement of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan, keeping pace with the people in the homeland waging an all-out charge to unfailingly build a thriving nation in 2012, the centenary of the birth of the President.

A letter of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.

Meanwhile, a photo exhibition was sponsored by the Chongryon Central Standing Committee on the same occasion.

Prior to it, a lecture was given by the Chongryon Central Standing Committee.
