Varied Anti-Tuberculosis Activities
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- Varied anti-tuberculosis activities are being conducted in the DPRK in step with the strategy for eradicating tuberculosis in the world.

The DPRK government has directed deep attention to the work for preventing and uprooting the infectious diseases as an important part of its health policy from long ago.

First of all, efforts are being concentrated on the hygienic propaganda against tuberculosis, while raising the social interest in the importance of the anti-tuberculosis activities and strengthening support to them.

The doctors in charge of households and prophylactic treatment organs are enlisted in the work in a positive way.

Meanwhile, the hygienic propaganda is being conducted through mass media and a new scientific film "Tuberculosis and Health" was released.

Colorful activities are also held in the country every year on the occasion of the "World TB's Day" (March 24).

The government has taken positive measures to prevent tuberculosis.

As part of the measures, all the newborn babies are vaccinated with Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) within seven days from 18 hours after birth and a step is being taken to supply preventive medicine to them without interruption.

Efforts are being exerted not only to regularly conduct medical check-up through medical consultation and medical examination car but also to block all the channels to the outbreak of TB cases.

The DPRK is further deepening contacts with the World Health Organization and other international organizations in the anti-tuberculosis activities.
