Buddhist Masses for Country's Reunification Held
Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- Buddhist masses for Korea's reunification were held at different temples across the country on Wednesday to mark Day of Buddha's Nirvana, 2553 B.E.

Attending the masses were office bearers of the Central Committee of the Buddhist Federation of Korea and its provincial, city and county committees, chief priests and monks of temples and believers.

A ritual for the said occasion took place and speeches were made at the masses.

Speakers noted that the Nirvana day is commemorated at the emotion-charged time when all the people have turned out to effect a great surge of leap forward on all fronts for building a great prosperous and powerful nation in hearty response to the call of the joint editorial for this year. And they stressed the need for the Buddhists to join in different practical activities and thus make a tangible contribution to building a thriving nation.

They recalled that the inter-Korean relations, which had favorably developed along with the June 15 era of reunification, have reached the worst phase due to the Lee Myung Bak group's sycophancy towards the U.S. and its moves for confrontation and war with the DPRK.

They called upon all the Buddhists at home and abroad to unite in Dharma-minded concord and turn out in the action to entomb the Lee group, defend and implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, apply the idea of "By our nation itself" and realize the national reconciliation and unity.
