Students in North and South Issue Joint Resolution
Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- The Korean Student Committee and the action headquarters of the 17th-term south Korean Federation of University Student Councils issued a joint resolution on Mar. 1 on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the March First Popular Uprising.

The uprising was an all-people struggle waged against the Japanese imperialists who wantonly trampled down upon the dignity and sovereignty of the Korean nation, the resolution said, and went on:

90 years have passed since the uprising but the Korean nation has not yet been freed from the threat of war by outside forces and anti-reunification forces and a stumbling block is lying in the way of national reunification.

The U.S. which occupied south Korea under the mask of "liberator" after the Japanese imperialists' defeat has pursued the policy of colonial enslavement though more than 60 years have passed since then and worked with blood-shot eyes to perpetuate its presence in south Korea to keep the Korean nation split forever.

Due to the U.S. and the Lee Myung Bak group, its lackeys, the situation on the Korean Peninsula is growing so tense that a war may break out any moment.

The Lee Myung Bak "government" is contemplating staging large-scale war exercises aimed at invading the north under the present situation where the inter-Korean relations have reached the phase of collapse, further escalating the military tension. This glaringly reveals its true intention not to stand for the peace of the nation and the country's reunification.

Warning that only self-destruction awaits those who turn their backs on the nation, backed by foreign forces, the resolution declared that the students in the north and the south would devote all their energies to the struggle to drive out the U.S. and its followers and reunify the country by the concerted efforts of the Koreans.
