General Strike of Press Trade Union Goes On in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- The general strike of the south Korean Press Trade Union is going into gear, according to south Korea's KBS and MBC.

The union called a rally in Seoul on Saturday, charging that the Lee Myung Bak "government" and the capital are seeking to remain in office long by putting broadcasting service under their control by the "bill on media" to mislead public opinion.

The organization declared that it would stage an all-out strike from Monday, after holding a rally for vowing the strike in Seoul with the attendance of local union members.

At the end of the rally it held a candlelight cultural event.

Earlier, it conducted information activities for disclosing the unjustness of the above-said bill in Seoul on Friday.

The trade union of MBC declared that it would fight out to defend the public nature of media. It began a struggle to totally refuse the production of broadcasting programs from Friday.

Meanwhile, the trade union of CBS, too, declared an overall strike involving all its members except personnel needed and set out on the action and the trade union of KBS announced that it would conduct a poll on its general strike from Mar. 2.
