Brisk Researches into Sea Culture
Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- Scientific researches for developing sea culture are going on in high key in the DPRK.

The Branch Academy of Fishery Science under the State Academy of Sciences is playing a big role in this work.

All the institutes under the branch academy located on the seaside are engaged in the creation of seaweed and fish culture farms with oceanographic and hydrological conditions favorable to sea culture.

Mixed fish culture being the main form of sea fish breeding, much effort is channeled to the solution of scientific and technological questions for three-dimensional fish breeding.

Researches have been undertaken to obtain a new variety of tangle expected to raise productivity per unit area, establish such production processes as collection of fish eggs, larva breeding, fry breeding and medium breeding, cultivate early feed for its abundant supply and the development of a unique natural protein feed.

Particular efforts are directed to researches into new feed additives.

Following the successful development of artificial propagation technology of salmon, the branch academy is pushing ahead with researches for raising the survival and egg-laying rate of salmon and increasing the number of its fries freed in water.

Also pushed forward are researches into the process of sea fish and weed.

Researches are in swing for producing processed aquatic products such as foodstuffs and medicines from various species of fish and seaweed including tangle.

Sin Sang Il, director of the Branch Academy of Fishery Science, said that the branch academy had achieved results in scientific researches in recent years, developing the technique of artificial egg-laying of delicious fish, obtaining a plant growth accelerant from tangle infusion, establishing a production process of microorganism ferment feed which is important in fish culture, and propagating hundreds of thousands of echinoderms and mollusks in culture farms.
