Events Held in Countries to Mark February Holiday
Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- Meetings and film shows took place in Germany, Bulgaria, Ecuador and India and a meeting, a seminar, an explanatory session and a ceremony of opening the week of book and photo exhibition in various units of Uganda between Feb. 11 and 16 to celebrate the birthday of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Displayed in the venues of the meetings were photos showing the undying Songun leadership feats of Kim Jong Il and books and photos introducing the advantages of the socialist system in the DPRK.

Speeches were made at the meetings.

A vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Germany noted that
Kim Jong Il has led socialism in the DPRK to victory with his original Songun policy by creditably carrying forward the revolutionary cause of President Kim Il Sung.

Konstantin Dimitrov, chairman of Khaskovo Provincial Committee of the Bulgarian Anti-Fascist Union, said that Korean-style socialism winning victory after victory under the wise leadership of
Kim Jong Il has become the beacon of hope for the progressive humankind desirous of socialism.

S. N. Sserwanga, secretary general of the African Regional Committee of Friendship and Solidarity with the Korean People, praised Kim Jong Il as a defender and guide of the cause of justice, stressing: The DPRK blessed with the great leader will prosper forever and continue to inspiringly encourage us, standing in the van of the struggle for the cause of global independence.

Rose Najjemba Muyinda, chairperson of the Ugandan National Women's Council, said at the ceremony of opening the week of book and photo exhibition that under the wise leadership of
Kim Jong Il the Korean people further hardened the single-minded unity of the whole society which can never be found in any other country and made signal progress under so difficult conditions, reliably defending the sovereignty of the country.

The participants in the film show held in Germany watched Korean film introducing Kim Jong Il's old home in the Paektusan secret camp.

Messages of greetings to Kim Jong Il were adopted at the meetings held in Germany and Bulgaria.
