Historical and Cultural Relics Well Preserved in DPRK
Pyongyang, February 23 (KCNA) -- Much effort is channeled to the excavation, arrangement and permanent preservation of historical and cultural relics in the DPRK.

In recent years lots of historical and cultural relics have been unearthed in different areas and historical remains restored to their original state and well arranged and their surroundings refurnished.

In Pyongyang the red-and-blue painting of the Taedong Gate, the Chongryu Pavilion, the Ulmil Pavilion and other historical monuments have been renewed and their walls and floors repaired, Taesongsan Fort has been repaired and the Paek Son Haeng Memorial Hall and the Monument to Kye Wol Hyang have been spruced up.

In North Hwanghae Province, one thousand and several hundred meter sections of the walls on Mt. Jongbang, Hwangju-township and other places have been restored to their original state and ditches around scores of historical monuments including the Simwon Temple in Yonthan County and Kwijin Temple in Sohung County have been rearranged to be protected from floods.

In South Phyongan Province the pillars and large beams of the Anguk Temple built in 503 have been repaired to restore their original looks. The red-and-blue painting of the Paeksang Pavilion in Anju City has been renewed and the grave of those buried alive with the dead in Songchon County and the house of the famous patriotic general Kim Ung So in Ryonggang County have been repaired.

The Ryongthong Temple in Kaesong, the capital of Koryo (918-1392), has been restored and the repair of the Haeju Puyong Pavilion and the Pyoksong Sohyon Lecture Hall in South Hwanghae Province, the Ryangchon Temple, the Anbul Temple, the Ryonghung Temple and the Kathu Temple in South Hamgyong Province has been successfully completed.

The historical and cultural relics across the country are shining as precious treasures of the nation under the correct cultural preservation policy of the DPRK.
