Struggle for Peace of Korean Peninsula Declared in S. Korea
Pyongyang, February 20 (KCNA) -- Civic and public organizations of south Korea, including the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the Confederation of Trade Unions and the Solidarity for Progress, held a rally in Seoul on Feb. 14, declaring the struggle for conclusion of an agreement for peace on the Korean Peninsula.

The organizations, through a written resolution, stated that they would wage a vigorous struggle to drive the U.S. forces out of south Korea and replace the Armistice Agreement with a peace accord.

The process for realizing peace on the Korean Peninsula has been confronted with difficulties by the emergence of the Lee Myung Bak regime, they noted, stressing the need to form an all-people body grouping all civic and public organizations of different regions and sectors across south Korea and escalate the "movement for realizing a peace agreement."

They declared that they would struggle, in solidarity with overseas compatriots' organizations, to realize the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and get the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea.
