National Photo Exhibition Opens
Pyongyang, February 13 (KCNA) -- A national photo exhibition was opened to celebrate February 16, the birthday of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

On display in the exhibition hall are at least 200 photos showing the Songun revolutionary feats performed by Kim Jong Il while traveling a long journey of patriotic devotion last year as a whole and the revolutionary stamina of the Korean people advancing, full of confidence, toward the eminence of a great prosperous and powerful nation under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Among them are photographs "The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il looks round the Kanggye Post Office, a revolutionary site," "The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il provides field guidance to the Chollima Steel Complex to kindle the torch of a new great revolutionary surge," "The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il gives on-the-spot guidance to the Central Zoo rebuilt on an expansion basis," which tell about the noble traits and immortal feats of Kim Jong Il who is creating an epic of devotion for the country and the people while making legendary forced march to lead the drive for building a great prosperous and powerful nation.

"Steel production goes up at the modern UHP electric arc furnace," "Unhung-ri, Thaechon County, turned into a socialist land of blessing" and other photos show the heroic efforts and proud achievements of the Korean people faithful to the leadership of the WPK.

There are also photos showing the ardent reverence of the world progressive people for the peerlessly great person and the steadfast will for national reunification of the Koreans who have turned out in the drive to implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration under the banner of "By our nation itself."

A ceremony of opening the exhibition took place at the People's Palace of Culture on Friday.

Minister of Culture Kang Nung Su made an opening address there.
