Lee's Intention to Appoint Anti-Reunification Element as Minister of "Unification" Accused
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- The Action Headquarters of the Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration to Force the Lee Myung Bak Regime to Step Down in south Korea issued a statement on January 21 in which it accused the "government" of informally designating Hyon In Thaek, professor at Korea University, as minister of "Unification" recently.

The statement charged that Hyon is one of the architects of the present regime's undisguised policy for confrontation with the DPRK the keynote of which is "no nukes, opening and 3,000 dollars" and advocates of south Korea's participation in PSI aimed at igniting a war of aggression against the north and the U.S. missile defense system.

Hyon was so hell-bent on the moves to bedevil the inter-Korean relations while involving himself in diplomacy and other affairs that he is called "tutor" for the Lee Myung Bak regime in the past one year, it noted, and continued:

After coming to power, Lee Myung Bak informally designated an ultra-right conservative as minister of "Unification" but he was forced to retract it by the protest and condemnation from the people. Lee's informal designation of such anti-reunification element as Hyon as the above-said minister in less than one year since then is as foolish an act as adding fuel to the flames.

Such rash action of Lee Myung Bak is nothing but a deliberate move to drive the worst inter-Korean relations to the phase of severance.

The statement called for forcing the Lee regime to step down without fail as it is making desperate efforts to scrap the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration at any cost through an alliance of anti-DPRK and anti-reunification conservative forces.
