Struggle against Killing of Evacuees Goes on in S. Korea
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- A candlelight struggle against the fascist Lee Myung Bak group's brutal killing of evacuees is going on in south Korea.

A candlelight rally and demonstration were held in Ryongsan, Seoul on Jan. 22.

The speakers at the rally accused Lee Myung Bak and the "Grand National Party" of seeking to railroad Lee's evil bills through the "extraordinary session of the National Assembly" in February by downplaying and concealing the recent murder. They bitterly denounced the Lee regime for mulling holding a "NA confirmation hearing" to appoint the chief of the Seoul District Police Office as chief of the Police Agency though he spearheaded the operation to kill evacuees, in particular.

Stating that they can no longer live under the Lee regime, they called on the people to pool their efforts to probe the truth behind the incident and punish the murderers. The rally was followed by demonstration.

In Pusan 29 political parties, civic and public organizations and student organizations including the Pusan City Party of the Democratic Labor Party and the Pusan Headquarters of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) jointly held an emergency press conference outside the building of the Pusan District Police Office on Jan. 21 at which they urged the authorities to take immediate measures to guarantee the living of the evacuees.

Meanwhile, the KCTU, the Federation of Trade Unions of south Korea, the Headquarters of the Anti-Lee Myung Bak Struggle of Chosun University, the Federation of University Student Councils in Southern Area of Kyonggi Province under the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils, the 17th-term Student Federation of Literature and Art of Hanyang University, the General Student Council of Chonnam National University and the Anti-U.S. and Anti-Lee Myung Bak Movement Headquarters in Kwangju and South Jolla Province also issued statements on Jan. 20 and 21 in protest against the fascist clique's killing of evacuees.
