Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- Preparatory committees for commemorating the Day of the Sun and February 16, the birthday of General Secretary Kim Jong Il, were formed in Tajikistan, Cambodia and Austria with due ceremonies between Jan. 14 and 16.
Kurbonzyon Mirzoyeva, secretary of the Sogd Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Tajikistan, Kong Sam Ol, deputy prime minister in charge of royal palace of Cambodia, and the general secretary of the Society for the Promotion of the Relations between Austria and the DPRK were elected chairmen of the committees at the ceremonies.
The Tajik and Austrian preparatory committees decided to hold colorful political and cultural events on the occasions of the Day of the Sun and the February holiday.
The Cambodian preparatory committee set the period from March 15 to April 15 and the period from January 16 to February 16 as commemoration and celebration periods and decided to widely introduce through media the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il for the cause of human independence and hold colorful political and cultural events during the periods.
