Immediate Halt to Moves for War of Aggression against DPRK Demanded
Pyongyang, January 23 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Peace Committee of Korea in a statement issued Friday urged the United States and the Lee Myung Bak bellicose forces to clearly know who their rival is and act with discretion and stop at once such moves for a war of aggression against the DPRK as threatening peace and security of the Korean Peninsula and the destiny of the nation.

Citing facts to prove that the U.S. and the south Korean puppet warmongers are hell-bent on increasing the military threat to the DPRK and stepping up their moves to ignite a war for aggression against it from the outset of the new year, the statement said that the outbreak of a nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula is a matter of time.

The present developments clearly prove that the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK and ambition to stifle it militarily remain unchanged and that the "strategy for waiting" touted by Lee Myung Bak is the one to prepare a war for aggression against the north, ie to kill fellow countrymen, it noted, and went on:

We value dialogue and cooperation but can never remain an onlooker to the situation today when our sovereignty and dignity are gravely threatened.

Dialogue and cooperation are aimed at achieving the sovereignty and dignity of the country and the reconciliation and unity of the nation and its peaceful reunification from A to Z and any dialogue and cooperation are meaningless without them.

It is the disposition and steadfast will of the DPRK to react to the use of force with force and counter the club brandishing with arms.

All the servicepersons and people of the DPRK keep themselves in an all-out confrontation posture, tightly holding arms of Songun in their hands in view of the prevailing situation. They will decisively shatter the moves of the U.S. and the south Korean puppets to escalate the confrontation with the DPRK and ignite a war against it with its resolute and merciless retaliatory measures.
