DPRK's Joint New Year Editorial Hailed in Different Countries
Pyongyang, January 15 (KCNA) -- Personages of Norway and Guinea issued statements in support of the DPRK's joint New Year editorial.

Chairman of the Friendship Society Norway-Korea Torstein Engelskjon said in his statement on Jan. 9 that the reunification of Korea is the unanimous desire of the entire Korean nation in the north and the south and overseas and the supreme national task which brooks no delay.

The movement for Korea's reunification, which had dynamically advanced with the June 15 era of reunification, is confronted by serious challenge since the Lee Myung Bak regime depending on foreign forces and seeking division emerged in south Korea last year, he noted.

As soon as it took office the Lee Myung Bak group totally denied the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration and has been hell-bent on confrontation with the DPRK while staging reckless war exercises against the fellow countrymen in league with foreign forces, he charged.

Banou Keita, chairman of the Guinea-Korea Friendship Association, noted in his statement on Jan. 6 that the reunification of Korea would be realized without fail only when the north and the south of it respect and sincerely apply the idea of "By our nation itself" which was confirmed in the June 15 joint declaration in 2000 and the October 4 declaration in 2007.

Since the countries concerned are heavily responsible for the division of Korea, it is an important duty of the international community to reject and remove the outsiders' obstruction and interference in internal affairs of the Korean nation, he said.

He held that the international community should extend full support and encouragement to the Korean people in the efforts to reunify the country under the banner of national independence.
