2nd 48-Hour People's Emergency Action Declared in Seoul
Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- The People's Emergency Action to Defend Democracy and Check Suppression of Candlelight Struggle made up of at least 100 civic and public organizations in south Korea held an emergency meeting of its executive members on Jan. 4 at which it declared the start of the second "48-hour people's emergency action to check Lee Myung Bak's moves to railroad evil bills."

The organization said that the situation prevailing in the "National Assembly" at present calls on the organization to turn out once again in the struggle for checking Lee's dictatorship.

The struggle will be kicked off by an emergency meeting on the situation to defend democracy and check Lee's dictatorship on Jan. 6 and will last till Jan. 8, the organization said, adding that it would pressurize the Lee regime and the "Grand National Party" keen to railroad evil bills through the NA by staging positive joint actions such as sit-in strike, candlelight rally, press conference and inter-sector meetings in front of the NA in that period.

Speakers at a press conference held prior to the meeting stated that the Lee "government" is taking the road of dictatorship, demanding the NA close its gate as it sides with the treacherous regime.

They warned that even if the GNP rams Lee's evil bills through the NA by taking advantage of its majority in the NA, the people will never recognize them but offer strong resistance against them.
