Over the last decade tens of thousands of people have been honored with academic degrees and titles, academicians, professors and doctors included.

This strikingly shows the correctness of the idea of giving priority to science, the policy of attaching importance to talents, of the Workers' Party of Korea which has set forth science and technology as one of the three pillars for the building of a great, prosperous and powerful nation.

Among doctors, there are more than 40 functionaries on service in national institutions, industrial establishments, co-op farms, stock-farms and other units and workers.

The number of the women who have been awarded doctorate from Juche 87 (1998) reaches a hundred and tens, five times that in the preceding years.

This proves that the women are playing a big role in the development of science and technology in the Songun era.

Also young men and women with academic degrees and titles are growing in number.

Lots of young scientists have made a positive contribution to pioneering various cutting-edge scientific fields and developing information technology and basic science, winning doctorate in their 20s and 30s. More than 20,000 young people have joined the ranks of holders of academic degrees and titles.

Many families whose members are possessed of academic degrees and titles have come into being. Among them are a family in which the father and son are doctors, doctor twins, an academician's scientist family in which the father and his three sons are doctors and his grand children are holders of academic degrees and titles, a family with over five certificates including academician, professor and doctor and a family in which the father and his two sons are academician and doctors.

Now scientists, technicians and holders of academic degrees and titles are striving hard to put the country's science and technology on a higher stage and fling open the gate to the great, prosperous and powerful nation at an early date with greater scientific and technological achievements.
