General Strike of Press Trade Union Supported
Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- The Headquarters of the Actions of the 16th-term south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) issued a statement on Dec. 29 last year in support of the struggle of the media trade union on a general strike against the puppet Lee Myung Bak group's moves to put the media under its control.

The statement accused Lee of working hard these days to ram seven evil bills on media through the "National Assembly" to put broadcasting services under the control of "the extremely rich who account for one percent of the population" and of Chosun Ilbo, Choongang Ilbo and Dong-A Ilbo.

The aim sought by Lee and the "Grand National Party" in this move is to cover up their true colors as sycophants and traitors serving the U.S. and anti-reunification elements and turn the society ultraconservative and, furthermore, realize their ambition to stay long in power, the statement noted, and warned:

The Lee regime and the GNP should bear in mind what judgment the successive dictatorial regimes met for standing in confrontation with the people and how their political base collapsed.

Hanchongryon will join the students across south Korea desirous of the independence, democracy and reunification and all the people on this land who waged candlelight actions in protest against the present regime in carrying on the struggle till Lee and the GNP kneel down before the people.
