Greetings to Raul Castro Ruz
Pyongyang, December 31 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il together with Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Wednesday sent a message of greetings to Raul Castro Ruz, Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Council of State and President of the Council of Ministers of Cuba, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the victory of the Cuban revolution.

The message said:

We, on behalf of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government and people, extend warm congratulations and comradely greetings to you and, through you, to the Communist Party of Cuba and the Cuban government and people on the 50th anniversary of the victory of the Cuban revolution.

Over the last 50 years after the victory of the Cuban revolution the fraternal Cuban people, under the correct leadership of respected Comrade Fidel Castro Ruz and you, have honorably defended the sovereignty of the country from the imperialists' sanctions and blockade and their moves to isolate and stifle Cuba and made great progress in the efforts to develop education, public health and economy and improve the standard of people's living.

The Korean people are sincerely rejoiced as over their own over all the achievements made by the fraternal Cuban people in the revolution and construction and will extend firm support and solidarity to the Cuban people in their just cause to defend the sovereignty of the country and the gains of the revolution in the future, too.

We take this opportunity to express the belief that the traditional comradely relations of friendship and cooperation between the parties, governments and peoples of the two countries will steadily develop in the joint struggle for socialism against imperialism and heartily wish you and your people greater successes in their work.
