His leadership over the army is manifested by the inspection to units of all services and arms which started from the inspection to a KPA unit honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led Seventh Regiment at the outset of the year.

He called at a KPA sub-unit on a biting cold winter day where he with deep care looked after the military service and life of servicepersons, acquainting himself with any slightest inconvenience in their life, indoor temperature of the bedroom and others.

Inspecting a company named after a hero, he inspired the company soldiers, saying that all of them should become heroes and while seeing round a health complex, a comprehensive service centre for soldiers, he set forth tasks and ways for managing it.

When he saw data at an army unit on deeds for helping the people including the fact that soldiers saved the lives and property of people with a self-sacrificing spirit, he praised them as beautiful deeds that could be done only by the KPA.

While inspecting the headquarters of combined units, he was satisfied with the fact that all the commanding officers and soldiers were not only constantly improving military technology and combat capacity but also discharging their guard duty in a manner of responsibility with a high degree of revolutionary vigilance and combat awareness and put forward important tasks that would serve as the guideline in strengthening the KPA into invincible revolutionary armed forces.

In the course of inspection he met lots of soldiers including a non-commissioned officer in extra service who had served in a unit for 30-odd-years and expressed his deep trust in them, saying that having such steel-like invincible army, the socialist motherland was impregnable.

After appreciating simple art performances of servicepersons and performances of art groups of servicepersons' families, he encouraged them to take the lead in the creation of culture commensurate with the Songun era.

The leadership over the army he has continued till the last month of the year has adorned a brilliant page of the history as a long inspection journey of great devotion.
