Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Air Force Unit 1017
Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected KPA Air Force Unit 1017 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led Seventh Regiment.

He was accompanied by KPA General Kim Jong Gak, first vice-director of the General Political Department of the KPA, KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Kim Myong Guk and senior officials of the Central Committee of the WPK.

He was greeted on the spot by Ri Pyong Chol, commander of the KPA air force, and other general officers and commanding officers of the unit.

He first looked round the planes examined by President Kim Il Sung.

He said that the unit has performed feats by making a great contribution to the development of the air force of the DPRK as it has covered a road of victory and glory under the wise leadership and meticulous care of the President and underscored the need to steadily carry forward this shining militant tradition.

He acquainted himself with the unit's performance of guard duty before watching the airmen's training.

He set forth the tasks to be fulfilled by the unit to increase its combat capability, expressing great satisfaction over the fact that the unit has not only firmly prepared all the pilots as human bombs in the sky but made full preparations to courageously beat back any time any enemies coming in attack, following the imperialists' moves for aggression with a high degree of revolutionary vigilance.

He met Hero of the Republic Ho Ryong and heard a story about a combat, praising him as a brave pilot who performed an astonishing miracle with his matchless grit and superb tactics and once again highly appreciating his feat.

All our praiseworthy pilots are fighters strong in faith and idea as their hearts are burning with the noble self-sacrificing spirit and ardent patriotism to readily dedicate their youth and lives to defending the country, he said, adding that the country is invulnerable as its blue sky is firmly guarded by the ranks of these loyalists.

He took warm care of the pilots' service and living as a real father would do, looking round a bedroom, mess hall, kitchen and other places of the unit.

He appreciated the efforts made by the commanding officers of the unit, greatly pleased to learn that the unit has provided the airmen with good living conditions by successfully building supply service facilities.

He had a photograph taken with the servicepersons of the unit.
