Mass Physical Culture and Sports Activities Get Brisk
Pyongyang, December 26 (KCNA) -- Physical culture and sports activities have been further popularized in the DPRK in the year of 2008.

Industrial establishments and co-op farms in different parts of the country have made use of sports bulletin boards to inform the working people of various common knowledge and data on physical culture and sports and striven hard to arrange sports facilities.

They have made it an inseparable part of daily life of the working people to do Taekwon-Do exercise for health and mass rhythmic gymnastics and colorful sports games have been organized on the sports days and other occasions.

The schools have raised the quality of physical education class and led all the students to take part in after-school physical culture and sports activities while pushing forward the work for securing necessary sports apparatuses and facilities.

As a result, lots of units have been honored with the titles of "Model Physical Training Factory (Institution, Enterprise)", "Model Physical Training Farm", "Twice Model Physical Training School" and "Model Physical Training School".

Colorful sports games were held this year, among them the 13th Paektusan Cup Sports Contest of Officials from National Institutions, the National Basketball Games of Agricultural Working People, the 7th National Traditional Sports Contest of Agricultural Working People for marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK, the 39th Sports Contest of Artistes, the National Students Sports Contest for September 5 Cup and the 12th National Basketball Games for August 28 Youth Cup among Youths and Students.

All the players in the games gave full play to their noble collectivist spirit and high-level sports technique which they have cultivated through mass sports activities.

Notably, the Sixth National Ssirum (Korean wrestling) Tournament for Grand Bull Prize was held at the Ssirum Ground on Rungra Island before full audience. Folk game contests such as the national folk game contest of school children and the folk sports and amusement games of women's union members were held with a large number of participants across the country on several anniversaries.

The afore-said mass physical culture and sports activities made the whole country replete with the revolutionary spirit.
