Lee Myung Bak Regime Urged to Step Down
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- The Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration of south Korea on Dec. 19 issued a statement titled "The Lee Myung Bak regime violating legitimate democratic rights, step down".

The statement accused Lee Myung Bak of blindfolding the people and stopping their ears and wantonly violating their legitimate democratic rights, while perpetrating a purge campaign against progressives through fascist suppression.

On Dec. 6, too, the security authorities cracked down upon youth organizations holding a press conference in demand of a solution to an unemployment issue, the statement noted, asserting that this helps people guess how poor the Lee regime's understanding of democracy is as what it has done is the fascist suppression which can be seen only under the past military dictatorial regimes.

The freedom of assembly and demonstration is a legitimate democratic right of the people, the statement pointed out, underscoring the need to foil the Lee regime's illegal undemocratic practices with concerted efforts and conduct a more vigorous struggle to force the regime to step down.

The Lee regime will have to pay a dear price for having violently cracked down upon the legitimate rights of the people while looking down upon them, the statement warned.
