Kim Jong Il Gives Field Guidance to Huichon Ceramic Factory
Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to the Huichon Ceramic Factory.

He went round the factory to learn in detail about the introduction of new technology and production there.

After seeing various kinds of pottery produced by the factory, he expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the factory has sharply increased the production of pottery and markedly improved their quality in a matter of one year.

Noting that the officials, technicians and workers of the factory have done a lot of work to consolidate the material and technical foundation of the factory, he highly appreciated their successes.

He said that the shining successes registered by the factory are the precious fruition of the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and fortitude and they prove that reserves for boosting the production lie in making scientific and technological progress.

If one makes persevering efforts, giving priority to the development of science and technology just as the workers of the factory did, it is possible to successfully put the national economy on a Juche-oriented, modern and scientific basis and make leaping progress in production, he said, stressing the need for all domains and units to thoroughly establish a production system based on a high level of science and technology.

He set forth tasks to be fulfilled by the factory.

He called for boosting the production of useful and attractive pottery of various shapes and supplying them to people in plenty.

In order to steadily increase the production of ceramics, it is necessary to continue dynamically pushing forward the scientification of the production processes, he noted, adding that to this end it is essential to steadily raise the level of technical skills of the workers and technicians and, at the same time, widely introduce advanced technology.

The strong independent national economy in the DPRK has tremendous potential, he said, emphasizing that in order to give fullest play to this great production potential it is of particular importance to raise the level of guidance of the officials steering economy and, at the same time, increase the role of the scientists and technicians.

He called upon the officials and other working people of the factory to bring about a signal surge in production and thus make a positive contribution to improving the standard of people's living.

The people of Jagang Province, the creators of the Kanggye spirit, have achieved, indeed, signal successes in this year, too, in hearty response to the Party's slogan "Glorify this year of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK as a year of historical turn which will go down in the history of the country!" he said, highly appreciating their feats.

Noting that the gigantic plan for building a great prosperous powerful nation has already begun to come true as a reality in the land of Jagang Province which has turned into a socialist land of bliss, he said that this astonishing miracle is the shining fruition of the inexhaustible mental power of the Korean people with which they flatten even thousands of high mountains at one go, if desired by the Party.

He expressed expectation and conviction that the party members and other working people in the province would creditably perform their role as vanguard and a shock force on all fronts of the socialist construction by displaying the same revolutionary spirit and mettle of fortitude as they did to successfully overcome the difficulties in the way of the revolution.

He was accompanied by Pak To Chun, chief secretary of the Jagang Provincial Committee of the WPK, Jang Song Thaek, department director of the C.C., WPK, Ju Kyu Chang and Ri Je Gang, first vice department directors of the same, and Korean People's Army Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su.
