Significant Day of DPRK Celebrated by GFTUK and KDWU
Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- The General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea and the Korean Democratic Women's Union held meetings on Dec. 18 and 19 on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's assumption of supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army.

Reporters and speakers at the meetings noted that holding Kim Jong Il in high esteem as supreme commander of the revolutionary armed forces made it possible to dynamically advance the Juche-oriented cause of army building and successfully carry forward the history and traditions of the Korean revolution started with arms and accomplish its cause.

Kim Jong Il has pursued unique Songun politics, consolidating as firm as a rock the military position of the country with the KPA as the core and brought about a shining victory and turn in the struggle to defend socialism and building a great prosperous powerful nation relying on the invincible military power, they said, and went on:

With his prominent military wisdom and commanding art he has developed the KPA into the army strong in idea and faith, achieved the unity of the army and people in thinking and work style and established the trait of assisting the army and helping the people throughout the country and thereby demonstrating the invincibility of the revolutionary army and reinforcing the army-people great unity, the roots of the society in the DPRK.

The undying exploits Kim Jong Il has performed by training the KPA into the first-line standard bearers and main force of the Juche-based revolution and winning one victory after another in the struggle to defend socialism and build a great prosperous powerful nation will shine forever in the history of the country.

Present at the meetings were Secretary of the WPK Central Committee Kim Jung Rin, officials of the working people's organizations and workers and members of the above-said unions.
