National Landscape Painting and Handicraft Exhibition Opens
Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- A national landscape painting and handicraft exhibition was opened to commemorate the 91st birth anniversary of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk.

On display at the exhibition halls were various kinds of landscape paintings and more than 300 handicrafts created by artists of fine arts organs including the Mansudae Art Studio and the National Art Studio.

Exhibits included a Korean powdered jewel painting "Looking Far into the Future of Country," an acrylic "On the Road of Songun Leadership" and a Korean painting "Indomitable Revolutionary Fighter Kim Jong Suk" depicting the personality of the three generals of Mt. Paektu as peerlessly great persons.

The works including Korean painting "White Apricot Flowers in Hoeryong" and oil painting "Glow over Lake Samji" successfully portray the landscape of the revolutionary battle sites and revolutionary sites associated with the noble life and feats of Kim Jong Suk who glorified her life as a great lifeguard in the struggle for the liberation of the country and the building of a new country.

Also displayed there were Korean painting "Jong Il Peak", oil painting "Virgin forest in Mt. Oga" and water-color painting "Okryu Restaurant in Morning," etc. showing the true picture of the country in which noble desire of the woman commander of Mt. Paektu is in full bloom thanks to General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Landscape paintings depicting the beautiful mountains and rivers of the country turning into a socialist land of bliss and ceramics and embroideries reflecting the advantageous cultural tradition of the Korean nation were also on display.

An opening ceremony took place at the Pyongyang International Cultural Centre on Thursday.

Kang Nung Su, minister of Culture, made a speech there.
