Mighty Group Propelling National Fine Arts Development
Pyongyang, December 5 (KCNA) -- The Korean Painting Creative Group of the Mansudae Art Studio of the DPRK is powerful center for the development of national fine arts.

The creative group has grown up to be a dignified and competent creative team since 1970s when the Korean painting "Evening Glow over Kangson" was created in the form of landscape on the theme of the socialist construction under the care of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Over last 30-odd years it has drawn the portrait of smiling President Kim Il Sung and works depicting the great persons of Mt. Paektu and tens of thousands of fine arts pieces including thematic paintings of various forms and landscapes strong in national emotion. In the course of this, it effected a radical turn in the content and drawing techniques of the Korean painting, the main graphic form of national fine arts.

It has improved ability and accumulated rich experience in the creation of large-size fine art works and displayed to the full the high standard of artistic calibre and collectivism.

In the recent years it has created world-famous masterpieces such as the large-size folding screen-form Korean painting "216 Peaks around Lake Chon on Mt. Paektu" and the Korean paintings "Mt. Chilbo in Autumn" and "Waves of Sea Kumgang" and large-size works of national treasure including landscape "Kuryong Falls in Mt. Kumgang" drawn on the wall of the screw staircase of the Mansudae Art Theatre and the picture "Ullim Falls in Autumn" on the wall of the central entrance hall of the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre.

The Korean paintings are winning popularity in other countries.

The creative group has exhibited thousands of pieces of Korean paintings in more than 300 fine arts expositions held at home and abroad including several Beijing International Art Expositions, winning high appreciation.

Under the guidance of the peerlessly great persons, the creative group is composed of many People's Artists, Merited Artists and able artists.
