Abolition of NSL Demanded in South Korea
Pyongyang, December 5 (KCNA) -- The Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration of south Korea released a statement on Dec. 1 demanding the abolition of the "National Security Law" (NSL), an anti-reunification fascist law.

The statement said that the NSL is a treacherous, anti-reunification and undemocratic law as it is a copy of the "Law on the Maintenance of Public Order" enforced by the Japanese imperialists.

The suppression of people has become evermore pronounced due to the NSL since the emergence of the Lee Myung Bak regime, it noted, and continued:

Elementary democratic rights have been violated in south Korea under the repressive and tyrannical rule of the Lee regime and there prevails in Korea such a grave situation that the north-south relations have been driven to the phase of total severance and a war may break out any moment.

We youth and students will actively turn out in the struggle for getting the NSL repealed as it blocks democracy in the land and national independence and peaceful reunification.

We will also launch a vigorous struggle for the resignation of the Lee regime which negates the June 15 joint declaration and the Oct. 4 declaration under the pretext of abiding by the NSL and seeks the permanent split of the Korean nation.
