Korean Dancing Technique Strong in National Coloring
Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- The Korean dancing technique is the dance representation method peculiar to the nation, which was created in such a manner as to suit the people's constitution, aesthetic sense, ideological sentiment and living custom.

Pliant and elegant is the dancing with movements of arms as the main, properly combined with leg movements.

As for the dance of Ancient Korea which spread to neighboring countries, an old document wrote that the dance was to dance in a slow, soft and emotional way to an emotional music.

The dancing technique assumed pronounced national characteristics in behavior and movement in the period of the three kingdoms (Koguryo, Paekje and Silla).

The long sleeve clothes dance drawn on tomb murals belonging to Koguryo shows that two arms are protruding forward or sideward and sleeves hanging down.

This bespeaks that the long sleeve clothes dance of Koguryo was to dance with arms moving slowly to the tune of an emotional music.

Many dance pieces were disseminated to neighboring countries in the course of external exchange in the period of Palhae and Later Silla. The dances were called "Koryo dance (Palhae dance)", "Silla dance" and so on.

In the period of Koryo which unified the territory, the Korean dancing technique further developed on the basis of the blood and cultural commonness of a homogeneous nation. The national dancing technique progressed in a uniform way in the years of Koryo which inherited the dances of the three kingdoms.

During the Ri Dynasty, the royal dances, to say nothing of the folk dances created among the working people, were represented in the Korean dancing technique strong in national coloring.
