GNP Accused of Blocking Settlement of Past
Pyongyang, December 2 (KCNA) -- Permanent co-representatives of the All-People Committee for Proper Settlement of Past in south Korea on Nov. 21 issued a statement titled "Grand National Party, stop its attempt to dissolve and merge all the committees for settling the past history."

The statement recalled that the GNP gentries submitted to the "National Assembly" on Nov. 20 a "bill calling for dissolving and merging all the committees for settling the past history," the keynote of which is to transfer all the work of 14 committees for settling the past history including the committee for probing the truth behind mysterious deaths in the army to the "committee for settling the past history for truth and reconciliation."

It held that the GNP is citing "an insufficient budget and a measure to increase the work efficiency" as a pretext for such action but it is aimed to check the proper settlement of the crimes committed by the pro-Japanese remnants and fascist dictatorial regimes.

Demanding an immediate retraction of the above-said unreasonable "bill," the statement declared that all the people desirous of a thoroughgoing probe into the truth behind the past history and its proper settlement would stage an active struggle to check the GNP's moves.
