Zabed Ansari, secretary general of the Karachi Branch of the Pakistan-Korea Friendship Association, said that the proposal for founding the DFRK put forward by President Kim Il Sung is the most realistic one for solving the issue of Korea's reunification as early as possible.
Taji Haider, former senator from the Pakistan People's Party, held that Korea should be reunified by the federal formula without fail to defend peace in Asia and the rest of the world.
The minister of Housing Development of the Sind State Government in Pakistan referred to the fact that the Korean people led by General Secretary Kim Jong Il are dynamically advancing along the road of socialism full of confidence. He extended firm solidarity to the Korean people in their struggle for achieving the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
An appeal to the world progressive people was adopted at the meeting.
The appeal expressed serious concern about the sufferings resulting from the national division the Korean people are undergoing due to the U.S. forces' presence in south Korea.
It continued:
We regard the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration, a programme for implementing it, as milestones indicating a shortcut to the development of the inter-Korean relations in the new century and the independent reunification of the nation and great programmes for achieving Korea's reunification as they most correctly reflect the need of the era and the desire of the Korean people.
We vehemently denounce the moves of the U.S. and the south Korean warmongers to provoke a new war.
It is our hope that all the world peace-loving people will voice positive support and solidarity for the Korean people in their efforts to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea without fail in accordance with the proposal for founding the DFRK.
