Halt to Joint War Maneuvers Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- Different circles of south Korea are demanding the halt to the aggressive Hoguk joint war exercises being staged by the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet war maniacs.

The emergency measure committee to shatter the moves to retaliate against the candlelight actions, the plot to scrap the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and the move to fabricate a case against the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration made public a statement on Oct. 31 in which it disclosed that through the current exercises the warlike forces are going to upgrade the "CONPLAN 5029" the core of which is preemptive attack on the DPRK into an "OPLAN."

The statement branded such reckless action as a dangerous act of escalating confrontation and tension in the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia.

The United States and the south Korean authorities should stop the war exercises at once, squarely seeing the catastrophic results their confrontational war maneuvers against the DPRK will bring to this land, it urged.

In the meantime, the Solidarity for Progress of south Korea, the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the Youth and Students Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration and other organizations held a joint press conference in denunciation of the reckless joint military maneuvers of the bellicose forces.

Speakers at the press conference said that the ongoing war games under the pretext of coping with any "sudden situation" in the DPRK are undisguised and dangerous anti-DPRK war maneuvers the keynote of which is that the south Korea-U.S. "combined forces" advance northward under the commandership of the U.S. in case of "emergency."

They strongly demanded an immediate halt to such military action of hostility towards the DPRK.
