Funeral Held for Late Pak Song Chol
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- A funeral was held for Pak Song Chol, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and honorary vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, in Pyongyang on Thursday.

Attending the funeral were Kim Yong Nam, Kim Yong Il, Kim Yong Chun, Kim Il Chol, Choe Thae Bok and other members of the state funeral committee, officials concerned and family members and relatives of the deceased.

Standing on either side of the bier were guards of honor of the Korean People's Army.

Before the start of the funeral procession, the participants paid silent tribute to the late Pak.

At 8 a.m. the hearse left the hall.

A funeral service took place on the spot.

Yang Hyong Sop, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, made a funeral oration.

He said that Pak Song Chol's life was a worthwhile one as he glorified the greatest honor and worthy life of a revolutionary soldier thanks to the warm love and benevolent care of the Party and the leader, adding that the feats performed by him for the Party and the revolution, the country and its people would be always remembered.

The remains of the deceased were buried in the grave amid the playing of a dirge and the firing of volley.

A wreath sent by General Secretary Kim Jong Il was laid before the grave.

Wreaths from different units including the C.C., the WPK, the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, the DPRK Cabinet and armed forces organs were placed before it.

The participants in the funeral paid silent tribute to the deceased.
