Persons of Merit in Songun Era, Pride of Korea
Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- There are a lot of true patriots who will remain long in the memory of the motherland and the people.

Among them there are men and women of distinguished services in the Songun era.

They have left remarkable marks of patriotism in the van of the endeavors to usher in a magnificent new era of defending socialism and building a great, prosperous and powerful nation over the last ten years or more in which the motherland faced a grim test.

They have faithfully supported, rain or shine, the Songun leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea with clean conscience and sense of obligation, thinking of the country before themselves.

Most illustrious is the life of Jong Chun Sil, director of the Jonchon County Commercial Management Office, who has worked devotedly at one post entrusted her by the Party and the motherland till her seventieth year at hand from her maidenhood.

She made Herculean efforts in toilsome work such as the creation of raw material bases to enhance the living standard of the people in the county even in the hard time of "Arduous March," the forced march. She provides the residents with what they need without fail by normally using the "Our Family Notebook" which she initiated scores of years ago.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave her, who had supported the Party invariably in her young and old age, the noble titles of passionate patriot, indomitable woman revolutionary and true servant of the people.

The men and women of meritorious services in the Songun era feel attached to their jobs and take an attitude befitting masters towards their work and they always think and work to make as much contribution as they can to the prosperity of the country.

An Jong Min, leader of Mining Workteam No. 1 of the April 5 Pit of the Kumgol Mine under the Komdok Mining Complex, Kim Tae Song, leader of Workteam No. 6 of the Kim Je Won Co-op Farm in Jaeryong County, South Hwanghae Province, Kim Sa Myong, chief of the Control Machine Institute under the State Academy of Sciences, Kim Kyong Su, a teacher of the Changju Branch of the Songryon Middle School in Pyokdong County, North Phyongan Province, and Kim Song Nyo of the Songgan County Road Management Brigade in Jagang Province and the members of her family workteam and many other persons of merit have worked heart and soul at their revolutionary posts without hoping for other's appreciation.

Countless are the patriotic deeds of the men and women of merit in the Songun era for the prosperity of the motherland, among them So Hye Suk residing in Songuja-dong, Mangyongdae District, Pyongyang who brought up orphans as she would her own children, Kim Chun Gum, chief of the Industrial Experimental Institute under the Puyun Mine who solved scientific and technological problems significant in improving the diet of the people and Ri Ung Chan, forest inspector of Taeri Workers' District, Kangdong County, Pyongyang, who devoted himself to increasing forest resources of the country.

Their endeavors are a noble example of a heroic life and they powerfully inspire the people to the gigantic struggle for building a great, prosperous and powerful socialist country.
