Stop to Unjust Suppression of Media Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, October 11 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) issued a statement on Oct. 7 to protest against the "Yonhap TV News" side's unjust suppression of members of the Press Trade Union.

The statement disclosed the fact that the side took such disciplinary measures as lay-off against 33 members of the union including the chief of its "News" branch who had struggled to defend public broadcasting and freedom of the press.

The Lee Myung Bak "government" is getting evermore clumsy and ferocious in the moves to control the "News", it pointed out, branding the said measures as an outrageous deed of the side upset by the intensified struggle of unionists.

The statement urged the side to stop the suppression of unionists and revoke the disciplinary measures immediately and declared that the KCTU, together with all the people, would fight against the Lee Myung Bak regime's scheme to put media under its control.
