Last year a seminar held in Romania to support the DPRK stressed the need to organize events for celebrating its 60th birthday and a preparatory committee for celebrating the anniversary was formed in the Czech Republic with the attendance of personages of political and public circles. Following them, preparations for celebrating Sept. 9, the birthday of the DPRK, were accelerated on a full scale in different parts of the world this year.

Preparatory committees to celebrate the DPRK founding anniversary were organized in more than 30 countries including India, Bangladesh, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Democratic Congo and Nigeria. The committees were made up of prominent figures of governments, political parties and organizations. And the Korean Friendship Association headquartered in Spain formed a preparatory committee for seminar through Internet.

The Secretariat of the C.C., the Communist Party of the Soviet Union announced "On the occasion of the 60th birthday of the DPRK", a resolution on widely introducing the immortal feats of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il and conducting colorful events.

The Office of the Presidential Envoy to Los Rios Province of Ecuador decided to award the title of honorary citizen and the key of the province to Kim Jong Il and the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Czechoslovak Communist Party a congratulatory message to him. Meanwhile, the Nepal Journalist Association presented the Nepalese International Peace Prize to him.

Congratulatory statements were issued by the Workers' Party of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Committee, the Switzerland-Korea Committee, the chairman of the National Executive Committee of the Polish Communist Party, the general secretary of the Central Committee of the People's Socialist Party of Mexico, the secretary general of the People's Unity Party of Tunisia, the chairman of the Guinea-Korea Friendship Association and other political parties and organizations and personages of different circles.

The presidents of Nepal, Dominica and Guinea warmly congratulated the Korean people on the 60th birthday of the DPRK when they met the DPRK ambassadors to their countries.

Events of laying floral baskets before the portraits of smiling President Kim Il Sung took place in Russia and Cuba and by the Organization of Solidarity of the Peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America. And floral baskets in the name of heads of state and political parties, government ministries, institutions and organizations and individuals of different countries were placed before portraits of the peerlessly great men at the DPRK embassies.

Representatives of governments, political parties and organizations and prominent figures of various countries visited the DPRK missions to celebrate the DPRK birthday.

Over 300 colorful events for celebrating the 60th anniversary of the DPRK were held across the world amid the deep concern of the progressive humankind.
