Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- A delegation of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea led by Chairman of its Central Committee Kang Chang Uk left here today to visit Vietnam.
Meanwhile, the Nepalese government information delegation led by Krishna Bahadur Mahara, minister of Information and Communications of Nepal, arrived here on the same day.
Among the arrivals were delegations and delegates of China, Russia, Germany, Sweden, Australia, Austria, Italy and Taipei of China to participate in the 4th Pyongyang Autumn International Commodity Fair.

Public Presentation on Potato Farming Held
Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- A national public presentation of scientific and technological achievements in the field of potato farming was held in Taehongdan County, Ryanggang Province on Sept. 18 and 19 to mark the 10th anniversary of the policy for effecting a signal turn in potato farming set forth by the Workers' Party of Korea.
Present there were officials, scientists, technicians and teachers in the agricultural field across the country.
The public presentation was divided into the panel of seed potato cultivation, the panel of potato cultivation and comprehensive mechanization in alpine areas, the panel of potato cultivation in low land, the panel of fertilizers and agricultural chemicals and the panel of potato storing and processing.
The participants heard more than 100 valuable papers dealing with successes made in researches to thoroughly implement the policy of bringing about a signal turn in potato farming laid down by General Secretary Kim Jong Il during his on-site guidance to Taehongdan County on Oct. 1, Juche 87 (1998).
Ri Kyong Sik, minister of Agriculture, made a speech titled "On Immortal feats the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il performed by setting forth the policy of bringing about a signal turn in potato farming and wisely leading the work to implement it."
Then followed the presentation of papers titled "On biological characteristics of high-yielding potato species examined by the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il," "On technology of cultivating high-yielding potato species by way of Taehongdan-style potato farming" and "On several ways of increasing the total yield of crops per hectare in double-cropping."
Introduced at the panel presentations were successes and experience gained in researches into the production and cultivation of high-yielding seed potato of various species, the way of boosting per hectare yield, the way of cultivating potatoes as the first crop, the realization of comprehensive mechanization and potato storing and processing, etc.
Collection of Reminiscences "Among the People" Vol. 75 Off Press
Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea Publishing House brought out a collection of reminiscences "Among the People" Vol. 75.
The book contains 20 reminiscences dealing with the undying feats President Kim Il Sung performed by founding and developing the DPRK and his noble popular traits.
Reminiscences "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung Is the Father of Nation-Building" tells how he built a new country for the people in the liberated Korea.
The book also contains reminiscences "The People's Committee Is a Genuine People's Power," "Woman, Once Kitchen Maid, Was Put Forward as Mistress of the Country" and "We Have the Motherland" which tell the stories that after the country's liberation the President built a revolutionary power and enabled the Korean people to become an owner of the land and the master of the country and bestowed upon the Koreans in Japan the pride and honor of being overseas citizens of the DPRK.
Reminiscences "Our Leader Was the Peerless Patriot" and "To Glorify the Feats of Heroes" tell the stories that the President instilled ardent patriotism and conviction of certain victory into the soldiers and people during the Fatherland Liberation War and let their feats shine long.
"Highly Important Guidelines for Strengthening the Revolutionary Armed Forces," "Till the Day the Chollima Statue was Erected as a Monument of the Times" and other reminiscences deal with the undying leadership feats of the President who firmly built up the military capability of the DPRK with Songun politics and made the Chollima spirit run high on this land in the difficult postwar period.
The book carries reminiscences dealing with the patriotic devotion and efforts the President made to consolidate Korean-style socialist system centred on the popular masses and telling stories that he devoted his all to achieving the prosperity of socialist Korea and reunifying the country till the last moments of his great life.
DPRK Praised as Socialist Power
Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- Foreigners who visited the DPRK on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the DPRK praised the DPRK shining as a powerful socialist fortress thanks to Kim Jong Il's Songun leadership.
Baguma Isoke, director general of the African Regional Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, said that socialist Korea has entered the road of new development under the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il.
Noting that the Songun politics has increased the might of the DPRK and remarkably raised its international prestige and dignity, he said that the world revolutionary people are conducting brisk activities to deeply study the Songun idea whose validity and vitality have been fully proven in practice and embody it to suit for the specific realities of their countries.
Garib Newaz, director of the International Institute of the Juche Idea, stressed that the DPRK, which was founded by President Kim Il Sung and turned into a socialist power independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in national defence under his guidance, is more strikingly demonstrating its might under the leadership of Kim Jong Il today.

Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- The drive to glorify the 60th anniversary of the DPRK as a grand festival of victors was a historic advance that strikingly demonstrated the DPRK's might of single-minded unity that has grown stronger in the course of the Songun revolution.

Rodong Sinmun on Originality of Songun Politics
Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- The originality of the Songun politics of the Workers' Party of Korea, which opened up a new path in socialist politics, is expressed in the fact that this politics put forward the Korean People's Army as the core detachment, the main force of the revolution, says Rodong Sinmun Sunday in a signed article.
Basing itself on the deep analysis into the development of the times and changed social and class relationship, the WPK advanced the idea of putting the army ahead of the working class and put forward the KPA as the core detachment and the main force of the revolution, the article notes, and says:
The WPK put forward the KPA as the main force of the revolution after scientifically analyzing the character and role of the revolutionary army from the Juche-oriented viewpoint. The KPA is the revolutionary armed forces standing guard over the anti-imperialist military front, the main front of our revolution. Our country is now in direct confrontation with U.S. imperialism. Under this actual condition, it will be impossible to defend the destiny of the country and the nation and socialism without reliance on the KPA. As the KPA safeguards the defence lines of the country impregnably with arms, the security of the country and the nation is guaranteed and Korean socialism is making long strides following up the victory century after century. Neither any class nor any group of society can play the role of the KPA standing guard over the first defence line of the country.
The KPA has creditably discharged its role as the main force and shock force not only in the defence of the country but also in socialist construction, true to the Songun revolutionary leadership of the WPK. There is no other group in society that is stronger than the KPA in the revolutionary spirit, sense of organization and the fighting capacity. So, the WPK put forward the KPA as the main force of the revolution with unshakable trust in the KPA, which is the standard-bearer of the revolution devotedly defending the security of the party and the country, socialism and the people and which is the strongest in the spirit of collectivism, the revolutionary spirit, the sense of organization and the fighting capacity.
The KPA has grown into the invincible revolutionary armed forces strong in ideology and faith under the leadership of the great leader and the great party. As this army was put forward as the main force of the revolution, our politico-ideological might has been considerably enhanced in the era of Songun and epoch-making miracles ceaselessly wrought in the defence of socialism and the building of a great prosperous powerful nation.
Puppet Police's Arrest of Inhabitants Assailed in S. Korea
Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- The Inhabitants Measure Committee against the Expansion of the Drill Ground in Mugon-ri, the Joint Measure Committee of Civic and Public Organizations for Checking the Expansion of the Drill Ground in Mugon-ri and the Democratic Labor Party in south Korea held a press conference outside the Phaju police station in Kyonggi Province on Sept. 17 denouncing the puppet police for walking off residents in Ohyon-ri.
Speakers at the press conference accused the police of walking off on Sept. 16 the residents and members of different organizations who had been staging a candlelight rally in protest against the moves of the military authorities to requisition land in the area of Ohyon-ri for expanding the drill ground in Mugon-ri.
Charging that the police are stopping the inhabitants from protecting their own land, they warned that the residents in Ohyon-ri would not cease their action till all the arrestees have been released.
Abolition of "National Security Law" Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- The People's Solidarity for Abrogation of the "National Security Law" and the Joint Measure Committee for Smashing Suppression of the Socialist Workers' Federation and Abrogating the "National Security Law" Violating Freedom of Political Ideology in south Korea held a joint press conference in Seoul on September 18, expressing the resolution to struggle for the abolition of the evil law.
Speakers at the press conference denounced the undisguised moves of the Lee Myung Bak "government" intended to revive fascist dictatorship, recalling that recently the Supreme Prosecutor's Office decided to set up again the "third security division", the office exclusively dealing with "violations of the NSL", at the security ministry.
Pointing out that the persons detained, prosecuted and arrested by dint of the NSL have grown in numbers after emergence of the present "government", they said that the ongoing repressive security campaign by dint of evil law puts the past period of fascist dictatorship to shame.
Contending that the NSL should be abolished at any cost this year, 60 years after its emergence, they declared that they would conduct full-scale activities to crush the repressive campaign and get the NSL abrogated, centering in Seoul.
A press release read out at the conference warned that if the Lee Myung Bak "government" oppresses the progressive forces by dint of the NSL it will face the same miserable end as the fascist dictators did.
6th Anniversary of DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration Marked in Japan
Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held in Tokyo on Sept. 13 on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the publication of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration.
Present there were personages of Japan-DPRK friendship organization and citizens.
Sumiko Shimizu, representative of the Japanese Women's Society for Solidarity with the Korean Women, spoke first at the meeting.
She said while visiting Pyongyang in August, she keenly felt the need to boost the solidarity with the DPRK and wage a more widespread movement for the normalization of the relations and friendship between Japan and DPRK in Japan, expressing concern about the Japan-DPRK relations now at the lowest ebb.
She urged the Japanese government to have dialogue for the normalization of the relations as required by the Japan-DPRK Pyongyang Declaration and called upon the citizens to conduct positive actions in solidarity to make sure that the sanctions against the DPRK are lifted.
Then, the floor was taken by Rumiko Nishino, co-representative of the Japanese Network against War and Violence against Women, Koichi Ishizaka, secretary general of the Liaison Council Demanding Denuclearization and Peace in Northeast Asia and Normalization of Japan-DPRK Relations, and Ken Takada, deputy secretary general of the Citizens Liaison Council against the Revision of the Constitution.
Speakers strongly urged the Japanese government to make an early apology and reparation for Japan's crime-woven past, convert the relations between the two countries into peaceful and friendly relations and normalize the relations between Japan and DPRK as early as possible as required by the Japan-DPRK Pyongyang Declaration.
DPRK Praised by Cuban Figure
Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- Enrique Roman Hernandez, first vice-president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples who visited the DPRK, said that he was struck with admiration at the power of Korean socialism. The DPRK will shed its rays forever as an invincible socialist fortress as it is led by Kim Jong Il, peerlessly brilliant Songun commander, he stressed.
Noting that he was fascinated by the politics pursued by President Kim Il Sung and Korean-style socialism since many years ago, he said that his visit to the DPRK offered him an opportunity of knowing well that the revolutionary cause of the President is being successfully carried forward and accomplished by Kim Jong Il.

Korean Fine Art Exhibition Opens in China
Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- A Korean fine art exhibition was opened in Beijing on Sept. 18 under the co-sponsorship of the DPRK Ministry of Culture and the Chinese Ministry of Culture to celebrate the 60th founding anniversary of the DPRK.
Displayed in the venue of the exhibition were fine art works dealing with the road of victory and glory covered by the DPRK, a happy life of the Korean people, the beautiful landscape of Songun Korea and the time-honored history and brilliant culture of the nation.
Present there were a vice-minister of Culture of China, officials in the fields of culture and arts, fine art lovers, DPRK Ambassador to China Choe Jin Su and staff members of his embassy and a delegation of the Korean fine art exhibition.
The DPRK ambassador in his speech at the opening ceremony referred to the fact that the DPRK has turned into a socialist power centered on the popular masses in which the Juche-oriented national culture and arts have fully effloresced under the wise guidance of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il and the creators of fine art works in the DPRK made positive contributions to developing the Juche-based fine art and building a great prosperous powerful nation.

Korean Book, Photo and Handicraft Exhibitions Held in Russia
Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- Korean book, photo and handicraft exhibitions were held at the International Scientific and Technological Information Centre in Moscow, at the Arseniyev Museum in Vladivostok, the Far Eastern Arts Museum in Khabarovsk and the Crewmen's Club in Nakhodka City from Sept. 2 to 15 on the occasion of the 60th birthday of the DPRK.
On display in the venues of the exhibitions were famous works of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il, photos showing their glorious revolutionary history and undying leadership exploits, books and photos introducing the true picture of the DPRK prospering day by day thanks to the Songun politics and handicrafts showcasing the excellent cultural tradition of the Korean nation.
Present at the opening ceremony of the exhibitions were a vice-minister of Culture and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia, the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, the Mission of the Presidential Envoy to the Far East Region of the Russian Federation, the Moscow City Administration and administrations of different other regions and the Pacific Fleet and masses.

The vice-minister of Culture of Russia praised Kim Il Sung for founding a genuine state for the people for the first time in the history of Korea, adding that the DPRK has registered great successes in various fabrics of social life, thus demonstrating its appearance before the world as a "land of morning calm."
The chairperson of the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia expressed hope that the Korean people would make greater successes in building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.

Kim Jong Il's Work Published in Nigeria
Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il's work "Giving Priority to Ideological Work Is Essential for Accomplishing Socialism" was brought out in pamphlet by the Enugu Publishing House of Nigeria.
The pamphlet in its preface said that Korean-style socialism is winning one victory after another despite all moves of the imperialists and reactionaries because the DPRK has given priority to the ideological work.
The work, published on June 19, Juche 84 (1995), clarifies the idea that it is necessary to have a firm grip on the ideological work and keep it ahead of all other work in order to successfully carry out the socialist cause and the idea that the basic duty of the ideological work is to model the whole society on the socialist idea and this work should be conducted on the principle and by the method suited to the intrinsic requirements of socialism.
A book releasing ceremony took place at the publishing house on September 9.
DPRK's Birthday Observed in Different Countries
Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- A joint seminar on the theme of "The experience gained by the DPRK in socialist construction," a photo exhibition, an art performance and a cocktail party were held in Britain and a seminar on the theme of "Six decades of the DPRK" in Ethiopia on Sept. 6 and 7 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the DPRK.
Displayed in the venues of the functions were photos showing the glorious path covered by the DPRK under the wise guidance of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
Present at the functions were figures of political parties and organizations and working people in the above-said countries.
The chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) and the secretary of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain (Marxist-Leninist) and other figures said in their reports and speeches that the foundation of the DPRK powerfully encouraged the peoples of countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America in their liberation struggles. They highly praised President Kim Il Sung as the eternal sun of Juche as he set up a people's power and led the popular masses' cause of independence, the cause of socialism to victory, thereby performing immortal exploits to shine long in history.
They also noted that the revolutionary exploits Kim Jong Il has performed by frustrating the moves of the U.S.-led imperialist allied forces against the DPRK and bringing about a turning phase in building a great prosperous powerful nation with his outstanding Songun politics would always remain shining along with the history of the world socialist movement.
The general secretary of the Addis Ababa Youth Association of Ethiopia said in a speech that thanks to Kim Jong Il's original Songun politics based on the Juche idea, the DPRK has emerged a politically and ideologically strong state steering the world.
There was an art performance the repertoire of which included Korean songs such as immortal revolutionary hymns "Song of General Kim Il Sung" and "Song of General Kim Jong Il."
60th Birthday of DPRK Marked in Different Countries
Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- Meetings, seminars and film shows were held by several units of Russia, lectures in Italy, Britain, Nigeria, India and Indonesia, seminars in Nepal and France and round-table talks in Tunisia between September 2 and 9 to celebrate the 60th birthday of the DPRK.
Appreciated at the film shows were such Korean films as "Answers of Korea" and "International Friendship Exhibition".
Read out at the seminar in Nepal was a congratulatory message to it from the Nepalese prime minister.
Attending the celebrations were personages of political and public circles and popular masses of the above-said countries.
Speakers there were unanimous in praising President Kim Il Sung as father of socialist Korea and a great revolutionary who founded the DPRK and devoted his whole life to happiness of the Korean people and the cause of global independence.

Los otros titulos "Nuestro Lider era patriota sin par" y "Para hacer brillar los meritos de los heroes" comentan que en el periodo de la Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria (1950-1953), el Presidente infundio en los militares y los habitantes el calido patriotismo y la firme confianza en la victoria y tomo medidas para transmitir eternamente los meritos de ellos.
"Guia programatica para el fortalecimiento de las fuerzas armadas revolucionarias", "Asi se construyo la Estatua de Chollima como monumento de la epoca" y otras reminiscencias atestiguan las imborrables proezas de direccion del Presidente quien en los dificiles tiempos posbelicos, consolido con el Songun (priorizacion militar) el poderio militar de la RPDC e hizo reinar en el suelo patrio el espiritu de Chollima.
Otros temas transmiten los esfuerzos abnegados y patrioticos del Presidente por el desarrollo del regimen socialista coreano centrado en las masas populares y destacan que hasta el ultimo momento de su grandiosa vida, el dedico todo lo suyo por la prosperidad de la Corea socialista y la reunificacion de la patria.
Presentacion Nacional de Exitos Cientifico-Tecnicos sobre Patata
Pyongyang, 20 de septiembre (ATCC) -- En ocasion del decimo aniversario de la presentacion de la orientacion del Partido del Trabajo de Corea sobre la revolucion en el cultivo de la patata, tuvo lugar los dias 18 y 19 en el distrito de Taehongdan de la provincia de Ryanggang la Presentacion Nacional de los Exitos Cientifico-Tecnicos logrados en la rama vinculada a este alimento.
Estuvieron presentes en la ocasion los funcionarios del sector agricola, cientificos, tecnicos y profesores de distintas localidades del pais.
El foro se realizo dividido en diversas secciones, entre otras, la del mejoramiento de variedades de patata, la del cultivo de esta en la meseta y mecanizacion combinada, la del cultivo en la zona baja, la del abono y productos agroquimicos y la del almacenamiento y procesamiento de la misma.
Fueron presentadas mas de 100 disertaciones valiosas que se redactaron durante los estudios para la materializacion consecuente de la orientacion sobre la revolucion en el cultivo de patata indicada el primero de octubre del 87 (1998) de la Era Juche por el Dirigente Kim Jong Il mientras dirigia sobre el terreno el distrito de Taehongdan.
El ministro de la Agricultura Ri Kyong Sik intervino primero bajo el titulo de "Sobre las inmortales hazanas del Dirigente Kim Jong Il quien presento la orientacion sobre la revolucion en el cultivo de patata y dirigio sabiamente esta labor".
Acto seguido, fueron publicados los trabajos intitulados "Sobre las caracteristicas biologicas de la variedad de patata de alto rendimiento mostrada al gran Dirigente, camarada Kim Jong Il", "Sobre la tecnica de cultivo de las variedades de patata de alto rendimiento segun el metodo agricola al estilo de Taehongdan", "Algunos remedios para elevar el rendimiento neto de cereales por hectarea en el cultivo para la doble cosecha al ano" y otros.
Y se ieron a conocer por separados en cada seccion los exitos y experiencias alcanzados en la investigacion sobre la produccion y el cultivo de la semilla de las variedades de alto rendimiento, el metodo para elevar el rendimiento por hectarea, el metodo de cultivo de patata para la primera cosecha, la mecanizacion combinada, el almacenamiento y procesamiento de este alimento.
Actos festivos por efemeride coreana en Gran Bretana y Etiopia
Pyongyang, 20 de septiembre (ATCC) -- Con motivo del 60o aniversario de la fundacion de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, tuvieron lugar los dias 6 y 7 el simposio conjunto bajo el tema de "Las experiencias de construccion del socialismo en la RPDC", la exhibicion de fotos, la funcion artistica y el coctel en Gran Bretana y el seminario bajo el titulo de "Los 60 anos de la RPDC" en Etiopia.
En las sedes de esos actos se veian las fotos alusivas a la gloriosa trayectoria recorrida por la RPDC bajo la sabia orientacion del Presidente Kim Il Sung y del Dirigente Kim Jong Il.
En las ocasiones participaron las personalidades de partidos politicos y entidades y habitantes de respectivos paises.
El presidente del Comite Central del Partido Comunista (M-L), el secretario del CC del Partido Comunista Revolucionario (M-L), de Gran Bretana, y otras personalidades senalaron en el informe y discursos que la fundacion de la RPDC estimulo mucho la lucha de los pueblos de paises asiaticos, africanos y latinoamericanos por la liberacion.
Alabaron que el Presidente es el eterno Sol del Juche que acumulo imborrables hazanas a ser transmitidas siempre en la historia, al edificar el poder del pueblo y conducir a la victoria la causa de independencia y la del socialismo de las masas populares.
Prosiguieron que se transmitiran eternamente junto con la historia del movimiento socialista mundial las proezas revolucionarias del Dirigente Kim Jong Il, quien con su destacada politica de Songun (priorizacion militar), frustro las maniobras anti-RPDC de las fuerzas aliadas imperialistas encabezadas por EE.UU. y dio una coyuntura trascendental para la construccion de una gran potencia prospera.
El secretario general de la Asociacion de la Juventud de Addis Ababa, Etiopia, destaco en el seminario que gracias a la original politica de Songun del Dirigente Kim Jong Il, que materializa la idea Juche, Corea se ha convertido en la potencia ideo-politica que encauza al mundo.
En la funcion artistica repercutieron las canciones coreanas como los inmortales himnos revolucionarios "Cancion del General Kim Il Sung" y "Cancion del General Kim Jong Il".
