Immortal Feats of President Kim Il Sung in Building Country

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The Korean people are recollecting with deep emotion the immortal feats performed by President Kim Il Sung in the cause of building the country with the founding anniversary of the DPRK approaching.
The President put forward the Juche-oriented line of building a people's government in the flames of the anti-Japanese struggle and founded the unique people's revolutionary government in the guerrilla bases.
The precious tradition and achievements registered in the activities of the people's revolutionary government under the wise leadership of the President became a valuable asset in the activities of the people's government founded in the country after the liberation.
The President made public "On Building the Party, State and Armed Forces in the Liberated Homeland", "On Progressive Democracy," "On the Building of New Korea and the National United Front" and other works in the days of building a new country, in which he laid down the character and duty of the Korean revolution, a unique political line and line of building the country for founding a democratic people's republic suited to the desire of the Korean people, thus providing an ideological foundation for the building of the state.
Under his energetic leadership, the Provisional People's Committee of North Korea, the central power body, was formed and one year later the People's Committee of North Korea was established in February Juche 36 (1947).
These were historical events whereby the achievements of democratic reforms were consolidated and the question of power, the preferential issue in the stage of socialist revolution, was resolved most successfully.
The Joint Conference of Representatives of Political Parties and Public Organizations in North and South Korea was held in Pyongyang in April 1948 on the initiative of the President at a time when the moves of the U.S. imperialists and their stooges to divide the nation became more undisguised.
The joint conference was a historic meeting which realized the unity of the whole nation in the struggle to establish an all-Korea unified government by smashing the criminal maneuvers of the U.S. imperialists and their stooges for "separate election and separate government" and a significant event which laid a comprehensive socio-political foundation for the establishment of a unified central government.
Later, the President proclaimed the foundation of the glorious Democratic People's Republic of Korea to the world on September 9, 1948.
The day when the national flag of new Korea fluttered and the entire people looked up to the national emblem, the symbol of the power of the Republic, will shine forever with the history of the building of the country in Korea.

KCNA Blasts Lee Myung Bak Group's Anti-DPRK "Human Rights" Racket

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The Lee Myung Bak clique hell-bent on sycophancy toward the U.S. and confrontation with fellow countrymen is playing the role of a shock brigade in executing the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK.
After coming to power Lee Myung Bak set "human rights diplomacy" as the "task of state policy" and adopted the "improved human rights of someone" as its policy while unhesitatingly kicking up an anti-DPRK "human rights" racket which even his predecessors were reluctant to do.
After setting up "a section in charge of north's human rights" in the "Unification Ministry", the traitor has frantically stepped up the moves to gather information about the human rights situation in the DPRK by mobilizing the "State Human Rights Committee", the "Institute for State Policy Studies" and other organs and riff-raffs.
This year the "Institute for Unification Studies" allocated 100 million won for establishing "database", a collection of "white papers on human rights situation" in the north which it has issued since 1996.
What matters here is that the "human rights" ruckus kicked up by the Lee Myung Bak group has something in common with the U.S. anti-DPRK "human rights" offensive.
This is clearly evidenced by the fact that Lee at the talks with U.S. President Bush during his recent junket to Seoul raised the "human rights issue" in the DPRK.
He blustered it was the first time that the human rights issue of the north was mentioned in south Korea-U.S. "joint statement" and the "improvement of human rights performance" should be regarded as "a standard and principle". He talked the same nonsense even when he met the president of the U.N. General Assembly.
The Lee clique is behaving impudently even in the international arena.
To cite an example, as instructed by the authorities, a "chief delegate" of south Korea slandered the north at an international conference, urging it to "take appropriate measures."
This was a premeditated politically-motivated provocation to stoke hostility and mistrust between the fellow countrymen and push the north-south relations to confrontation as it was a vivid manifestation of the Lee group's deep-rooted animosity toward the DPRK.
As recognized by the world, the DPRK regards it as its state policy to guarantee people's rights and it has contributed to the international efforts for the protection and improvement of human rights.
The DPRK government considers it as the most important issue in safeguarding human rights to ensure people's right to independence and has exerted its utmost effort for providing them with genuine freedom and rights.
It is south Korea where human rights issue actually exists.
Demands for the abolition of the "National Security Law", a law that has earned ill fame as a legal mechanism that has violated human rights and justified the anti-reunification moves for more than half a century, have been turned down and all sorts of new evil laws and repressive mechanisms are in the making.
It is the deplorable reality there that the people's right to existence, the most essential element of human rights, has been grossly violated by foreign forces.
It is absolutely illogical for such group to raise their heads and talk about "human rights record" of someone although they should have been judged by history for the hideous human rights abuses they have committed against the nation and thrown overboard.
The Lee Myung Bak regime will have to pay a dear price for its human rights abuses to be cursed by history.

Fascist Suppression in S. Korea Accused

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The Lee Myung Bak clique of south Korea recently sentenced Yun Ki Jin, chairman of the South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification, to three years in prison and three years of suspension of civil rights.
Commenting on such fascist action, a news analyst of Rodong Sinmun today says:
The group charged Yun with "infiltration and escape", "accession to an enemy-benefiting organization" and "encouragement and praise". It is a far-fetched assertion that can never be justified.
It is clear to anyone that Yun can never be a target of suppression as he should be praised for his devotion to the practical struggle to put an end to the national division and accelerate the national reunification by the concerted efforts of all Koreans in the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration, a great reunification programme common to the nation.
The Lee Myung Bak group, however, sentenced him to penal servitude despite the unanimous protest of south Korean people from all walks of life, which is an artifice to tide over the serious ruling crisis.
By harshly punishing Yun on charges of "violation of the National Security Law" the puppets seek to pose threat to the pro-reunification patriotic forces and, furthermore, cook up a certain shocking incident groundlessly linked with the DPRK and thus divert the hatred of people to them elsewhere and find a way out of their ruling crisis.
Through such frantic repression of the pro-reunification patriotic forces, the Lee group has revealed that its loudmouthed "improvement of relations" and "dialogue and cooperation" with the DPRK are no more than an empty talk and that it is a group of traitors pursuing confrontation and provocation of a war against the DPRK while swimming against the trend of the June 15 era of reunification.
Brandishing a sword against the people will bring nothing but self-destruction.
If it does not want to meet death due to the strong resistance of the people, the Lee Myung Bak group should promptly set free Yun Ki Jin and all other pro-reunification patriots detained on unreasonable charges and stop at once the fascist suppression of the pro-reunification patriotic forces.

Japan Urged to Redress Its Crime-Woven Past

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The Liberal Democratic Party of Japan in its head's statement issued on the occasion of August 15 asserted that Japan would make positive "international contribution on the basis of the Japan-U.S. relations" and fulfill its "commitments," talking about "Japan's responsibility in the international community".
Minju Joson today in a by-lined commentary says that Japan's talk about the "international contribution on the basis of the Japan-U.S. relations" is, in essence, little short of an open declaration of its intention to launch overseas aggression again, backed by the U.S.
    It goes on:
Unlike other countries, for Japan to claim that it would fulfill its responsibility and role in the field of global peace and security does not sound as a welcome thing. If Japan is truly interested in settling the issue of world peace and humanitarian issue, it should opt to settle these issues before anything else.
The Japanese political circles are locked in a fierce scramble for extending the law on the refueling mission of the Maritime "Self-Defense Force" in the Indian Ocean. This is aimed to justify the overseas military activities of the MSDF in a bid to lay a legal foundation for overseas aggression.
The Japanese reactionaries seek to improve their international image and prestige and demonstrate their raison d'etre by laying a legal groundwork for overseas aggression. For Japan to redress its past crimes is an important touchstone showing whether it has a will for peace or not. Asian people's mistrust in Japan will go on unless this issue is settled.
Japan had better opt for liquidating its past as demanded by the international community rather than behaving in a narrow-minded and crafty manner to invite criticism from others.

All Koreans Called Upon to Protect Peace

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- It is a very important issue related to the dignity and security of the Korean nation and a sure guarantee for achieving national independence and reunification to struggle against aggression and war and protect peace.
Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a signed article.
    It goes on:
It is impossible to achieve genuine concord nor is it possible to attain peaceful reunification under the situation where peace is disturbed and a war atmosphere reigns. This is the lesson the Koreans have drawn from the past history of inter-Korean confrontation.
In order to ensure peace, it is necessary to remove the source of threatening it, first of all. The U.S. military presence in south Korea and its reckless policy of war to invade the DPRK are the constant source of war on the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S. imperialist aggressor forces present in south Korea are the main source of escalating the military tension on the Korean Peninsula and bringing the danger of a nuclear war to this land.
The treacherous confrontation and war moves stepped up by the south Korean puppets subservient to the aggressor outside forces are the main factor of threatening the peace on the peninsula.
Intolerable are the treacherous acts of south Korean puppets keen on the military confrontation with fellow countrymen after becoming running dogs of the aggressor outside forces, utterly indifferent to the destiny of the nation.
All Koreans at home and abroad are responsible for the struggle to defend peace against war.
All Koreans who love the country and the nation and value peace should pool efforts regardless of whether they are in the north or the south or abroad and intensify the struggle for peace against war in order to smash the moves of the bellicose forces at home and abroad for a war of aggression.
They should hold higher the banner of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration in order to cope with the daily escalating moves of the U.S. imperialists and their stooges for a war of aggression and carry on the dynamic struggle to achieve the peace and independent reunification of the country by their concerted efforts.

Japanese Government Urged to Make Apology and Reparation for Massacre of Koreans

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- At least 40 units of south Korea including the "Federation of Homogeneous Nation Movement Organizations" held a "memorial service for victims" in Seoul on September 1, 85 years since the Japanese imperialists massacred Koreans after a great quake hit Kanto.
A statement was read out at the service.
The statement recalled that when the quake hit Kanto, Japan on September 1, 1923, the Japanese government proclaimed "a wartime martial law" and spread wild rumors that "Koreans commit arsons" and "Koreans put poison into wells," etc. inciting bitterness toward Koreans among Japanese and cruelly killing many Koreans in Japan.
The Japanese government has not even admitted the hideous massacre though 85 years have passed since then, instead of probing the truth about it and apologizing for it, the statement noted, adding that this cannot but be a serious matter.
It urged the Japanese government to immediately probe the truth behind the massacre of Koreans after the great quake hit Kanto and apologize for the monstrous atrocities and make reparation for them.
The statement also urged the south Korean "government" to form a "committee for probing the truth behind the massacre" and institute September 1 as the "day commemorating the victims".
    Speeches were made then.
Speakers accused the Japanese reactionaries of trying to mention in their defense white paper that the "south Korea has illegally occupied Tok Islet," while going busy distorting their crime-woven history.
They declared that various civic and social organizations would conduct positive activities to probe the truth behind the above-said mass killings.

Lee Myung Bak's Religious Discrimination under Fire

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Preparatory Committee for All-Buddhists Meeting in south Korea at a press conference in Seoul on September 1 urged traitor Lee Myung Bak to apologize for the religious discrimination.
He recalled that Buddhists held an "all-Buddhists meeting denouncing the Lee Myung Bak 'government' for violating the constitution and perpetrating religious discrimination" in Seoul on August 27 at which they raised to the authorities demands such as Lee Myung Bak's apology, prevention of religious discrimination and dismissal of the chief of the Police Office.
They accused Lee of paying no heed to these demands and inviting his henchmen to "Chongwadae" for wining and dining.
Noting that the former chief priest of Sangwon Temple attempted to commit suicide by disemboweling himself on August 30 against the backdrop of the growing resistance of the Buddhists, he stressed that this was a manifestation of protest against the present "government" hell bent on arrogant and self-righteous practices.
He declared that in order to prevent the recurrence of tragic incident Lee Myung Bak should apologize for his suppression of Buddhists and meet the demands of people and Buddhists for the dismissal of the chief of the Police Office at an early date.
He warned that meetings condemning the present "government" would go on in different parts of south Korea if the authorities turn down the Buddhists' demands.
The National Council of the south Korean Buddhist Jogye Order issued a statement on the same day.
The statement said the Buddhists cannot but express concern about how many crimes Lee Myung Bak would commit in the days ahead as he has perpetrated so hideous religious discrimination in just six months since his assumption of office.
The statement urged Lee to apologize for his crimes and meet the demands of the Buddhist circle, though belatedly.

Kim Jong Il's Work Published in Bangladesh

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il's famous work "On Preserving the Juche Character and National Character of the Revolution and Construction" was brought out in pamphlet by the Natun Katha in Bangladesh.
The work, published on June 19, Juche 86 (1997), clarifies the idea that to preserve the Juche character and national character of the revolution and construction is the fundamental principle that should be maintained in accomplishing the cause of socialism and the tasks and ways to do so.
A ceremony of releasing the work took place at the building of the Workers' Party of Bangladesh on August 30.
Present there were leadership members of political parties and organizations, including the Workers' Party, the National Socialist Party, the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) and the People's League of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Committee, personages of academic and legal circles and members of Juche idea study organizations.
Speeches were made by Rashed Khan Menon, chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Bangladesh, the secretary general of the Bangladesh-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Committee, and others. They stressed that the work is highly important guidelines which should be always held fast to by the governments and peoples of all countries, developing countries, in particular.

DPRK Birthday Marked in Different Countries

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Organizations in Romania and Peru issued bulletins to commemorate the 60th birthday of the DPRK.
The Romanian Workers' Association edited an article titled "The Democratic People's Republic of Korea" in its bulletin on August 30.
The article noted that the DPRK turned into the first tax-free country in the world and a country where all the people learn free of charge and the free medical care system is enforced, an envy of the progressive humankind.
The DPRK, guided by the Juche idea, is a country which independently advances and develops without reading other's face and when the imperialists were getting evermore vicious in their anti-socialist moves, it firmly defended its sovereignty and dignity with Songun as a weapon, the article said.
The bulletin noted with high appreciation that the sovereignty and dignity of the DPRK has been more reliably defended thanks to the Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il, the great successor to President Kim Il Sung.
The Peru Group for the Study of Kimilsungism carried in its bulletin an article and photos introducing the history of Korea on August 20.
The bulletin elaborated on the exploits the President performed for nation-building and carried pictures showing his revolutionary activities.
