Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Unit 1622
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected KPA Unit 1622.
He dropped in at the training hall to acquaint himself with the training of servicepersons of the unit.
He set forth tasks to be fulfilled by the unit to further increase its combat capability, expressing satisfaction over the fact that the commanding officers and men of the unit have grown to be a-match-for-a hundred fighters by undergoing effective trainings, pursuant to the WPK's policy of training.

After acquainting himself with the work conducted by the unit to turn the areas around the unit into a thick woodland and greenery, he praised it for having created a large area of forest and tended it with good care and highly appreciated patriotism displayed by its servicepersons.
He took deep care of its soldiers' service and living, making the rounds of an education room, bedroom, mess hall, non-staple food store, wash-cum-bath house, barber's and other entertainment and educational and supply service facilities.
He learned about the quality of the CDs shown on a TV screen and the use of entertainment equipment and expressed satisfaction over the fact that the unit has provided the soldiers with good conditions for a cultural and emotional life.
He called on the commanding officers of the unit to pay deep attention to the living of the soldiers, always bearing deep in mind the teaching of President Kim Il Sung that supply service precisely means a political work, and indicated ways to do so.
He gave the servicepersons of the unit a pair of binoculars, a machine gun and an automatic rifle as gifts and had a photo session with them.

Japan's Past Crimes and Moves for Reinvasion Assailed
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Committee for Investigation into the Damage Done by the Japanese Imperialists during Their Occupation of Korea released a statement on August 1, 65 years after the Japanese imperialists put the criminal "conscription system" into force to hurl young and middle-aged Koreans into their war of aggression as cannon fodder.
The statement said: The Japanese imperialists adopted "the bill on the revision of the military service law" in 1943 in the wake of the promulgation of "ordinance on the special Korean volunteers for the army," thus perpetrating such hair-raising atrocities as bringing unspeakable disasters and sufferings to the Korean nation. They are unpardonable as they were the most barbarous war crimes in the world history.
The Japanese reactionaries are still today evading the responsibility to redeem the hideous unethical crimes Japan committed against the Korean nation in the last century, instead of making apology and reparation for these crimes. They are going mad with the brazen-faced moves to tamper with their history of aggression and grab Tok Islet and hostile moves against the DPRK in a bid to stage a comeback to Korea.

Kim Yong Nam Meets CPC Delegation
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and had a friendly talk with the delegation of officials of the Communist Party of China led by Li Jengzhen, director of the Party History Research Centre of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and deputy director of the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall today.

Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il was presented with a gift by a delegation of officials of the Communist Party of China on a visit to the DPRK.

Tok Islet with Many Nicknames
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- Tok Islet has more nicknames than any other Korean islets.
Its names conveyed till today are Usan, Sambong, Kaji, Sok, etc.
Usan Islet is its earliest name. It is derived from Usanguk which exercised jurisdiction over Ullung and Usan (Tok) islets in the early 6th century.
Later "Usan" was changed into "Tok" of today.
"Geographical Handbook of True Records of King Sejong" (1432) made clear the relations between Ullung and Usan islets and Usanguk, saying: "Usan and Murung islets are located in the middle of the sea east of the prefecture. The two islets being not far away from each other, one can see the other islet from one islet in a clear day. They were called Usanguk in the period of Silla dynasty".
Tok Islet was once called "Sambong Islet" or "Kaji Islet".
"True Records of King Songjong" says: "Three rocks lie in a row to the north of the islet. Lying next is Jung Islet and there is a small islet to the west of it. All of them are washed by the same sea water".
Tok Islet was called Sambong mainly by the people of Hamgyong Province in those days for its external features.
Kaji Islet, its another name, came from kaji which meant the seal in inherent Korean, which is the special product of Tok Islet.
A record about Kaji Islet is found in "True Records of King Jongjo" (June Jongjo 18). According to it, Han Chang Guk, a military commander of Wolsong, went to Ullung and there he changed his course to Kaji Islet, where he caught two Kaji (seals) in April 1794.
Sok and Tok were attached to the islet after the 1880s when active development of Ullung Islet was undertaken.
Tok Islet has also European names.
Korean Revolution Museum
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- The Korean Revolution Museum is greeting its 60th birthday.
The museum, founded on August 1, Juche 37 (1948), has turned into a powerful centre of ideological education, a great edifice of education in the revolutionary traditions, of the Workers' Party of Korea.
It has more than 90 rooms showing the people's struggle against the aggressors and the Korean revolution in the historical period spanning from the middle of the 1860s to the present Songun era when they are building a great, prosperous and powerful socialist nation.
It consists of rooms devoted to each period of the revolution and construction such as the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, the building of a new country, the Fatherland Liberation War, the construction of foundations of socialism, the overall construction of socialism and the development in depth of the three revolutions, the room for President Kim Il Sung and his comrades-in-arms, the room for national reunification and the room for overseas Koreans.
On display there are tens of thousands of revolutionary historical relics and remains, materials, large-sized semi-panoramic pictures "Pochonbo Battle" and "Defensive Battle on Height 1,211", five medium and small-sized semi-panoramic pictures, various mock-ups, charts, wax images, computer editions, tape and video recordings and other manufactured exhibits.
It is visited every year by a great number of Koreans at home and overseas and foreigners. The number of the visitors totals above 27 millions since its foundation.
The museum has issued lots of publications including the books "Revolutionary Comrades-in-arms Enjoying Immortality" and "Handbook for Visitors to Korean Revolution Museum" and the picture album "Korean Revolution Museum."
Important Guideline on National Unity and Reunification Cause
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung published the famous work "Let Us Achieve the Great Unity of Our Nation" on August 1, Juche 80 (1991).

Lee Myung Bak's Opposition to October 4 Declaration Termed Act of Treachery
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- The part supporting the October 4 declaration was deleted from the statement of the chairman of the ministerial meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum at the "request" of the Lee Myung Bak group after the meeting came to close on July 28.
When the above-said part was included in the statement, Lee severely criticized the south Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Much upset by this, the minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade instructed the assistant minister active in Singapore to get the above-said part deleted from the statement unconditionally. Acting upon the instruction, south Korean puppets met those concerned of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, the chair state of the meeting, and repeatedly implored them to delete that part from the statement.
This mean behavior of the Lee group comes under fire by a signed commentary of Minju Joson Friday.
The Lee group unhesitatingly stripped bare on the international arena the treacherous aim sought by them in pursuing inter-Korean confrontation, while negating and opposing the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, a programme for implementing the former, the commentary observes, and goes on:
This undisguised act of treachery explains the reason why Lee said in his recent "policy speech" made at the "National Assembly" that the October 4 declaration might be discussed.
By origin, Lee, displeased with the above-said declarations, regarded them as bete noire.
Right after the declarations were published, Lee sidestepped and negated the above-said declarations in a bid to stem the trend of the times towards national reconciliation and unity and reunification of the country and do harm to fellow countrymen, backed by the United States.

Results of Investigation Conducted by Prosecution under Fire
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- The south Korean puppet prosecution announced the results of the intermediary investigation into MBC on July 29 which disclosed the injustice of the import of American beef, according to the south Korean KBS.
The prosecution blustered it drew the conclusion that MBC deliberately hyped the danger of "mad cow disease", claiming that it found 19 mistranslations and distortions out of what was reported by MBC about American beef.
The prosecution let loose a spate of threatening remarks that it would examine the proposal for indicting those involved in preparing the broadcasting programs in the wake of pressurizing MBC to submit the relevant information till August 13.
In this regard MBC branded the prosecution as "a spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery which requested it to conduct an illegal investigation", stating that MBC cannot recognize the results of its investigation.
The Civic Solidarity for Reforming Media held that "it is better for the prosecution to throw media into prison." It noted that experts on "mad cow disease" would call a press conference refuting the results of the investigation.
Opposition parties including the Democratic Labor Party of south Korea declared that the unreasonable investigation conducted by the prosecution into MBC was a move to gag the press critical of the "government".
S. Korean Authorities' Suppression of Workers Denounced
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- The Federation of south Korean Trade Unions made public a statement on July 28 in denunciation of the authorities' unjust suppression of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions.
The statement charged that the police issued arrest warrants for core members of the KCTU and took away its Chief Vice-Chairwoman Jin Yong Ok.
Noting that the police have asserted that the issue of the arrest warrants was ascribable to the general strike against the American beef import, it contended that the labor movement organizations' just exercise of rights related to the socio-economically important matters should not be disapproved.
If the "government" persists in the method of taking unreasonable legal action against trade unions and civic and public organizations, talking about "law and principle," this will create a grave crisis in the whole society including the labor movement, the statement warned.
It demanded that the authorities repeal the issued arrest warrants for core members of the KCTU, immediately release Jin Yong Ok and ensure just activities of trade unions.
Pullout of U.S. Forces from S. Korea Urged
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- Organizations of different social standings in south Korea staged actions for demanding the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea and the conclusion of a peace agreement on the Korean Peninsula on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the conclusion of the Armistice Agreement.
A meeting urging the conclusion of a peace agreement on the Korean Peninsula without the U.S. forces took place in Seoul on July 26.
Present there were members of different organizations including the Solidarity for Progress of south Korea, the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the Joint Measure Committee of Civic and Public Organizations against the Expansion of Training Ground in Mugon-ri.
Speakers at the meeting stressed the need to replace the AA by a peace agreement and remove the main factors of military threat, including the U.S. forces present in south Korea, as soon as possible, branding the U.S. as the mastermind of fostering division and confrontation between the south and the north of Korea and disturbing peace.
In a resolution the participants declared that they would surely drive out the U.S. forces justifying their presence in south Korea under the pretexts of "threat from the north" and "strengthened south Korea-U.S. alliance" by vigorously conducting the movement for building peace-keeping mechanism on the Korean Peninsula.
On the same day, the Youth and Students Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration held an anti-war peace rally of youth and students in Seoul.
A resolution, read out at the rally, called for activating the movement to terminate the present armistice system and build a permanent peace mechanism as stipulated in the October 4 declaration.
The resolution stressed that people from all walks of life should firmly unite around June 15 All-Korean Committee to adhere to and implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and realize peace on the Korean Peninsula.
The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, an anti-war peace movement organization, held an event for realizing a peace agreement on the Korean Peninsula at the people's hall in Jongro Ward, Seoul, on July 27 and then a meeting to vow the struggle for it outside the U.S. embassy.
Also, the Citizen's Solidarity for Peace and Reunification, the Alliance of National Harmony Movements and other civic organizations called a meeting to vow to urge the termination of the armistice system and the establishment of peace mechanism in Seoul. After the meeting they staged a demonstration.
War Victory Day Celebrated Abroad
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held by the Lugazi Branch of the Uganda-DPRK Friendship Association, a photo exhibition by the Ugandan National Women's Council and round table talks in a company of Indonesia on July 24 and 25 on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.
Displayed in the venue of the photo exhibition were photographs showing immortal Songun leadership feats of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il and those introducing the heroic struggle waged by the army and people of the DPRK to win a victory in the war.
Speeches were made at the functions.

War Victory Day Observed by Bangladeshi Party
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- Hasanul Huq Inu, chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Bangladesh National Socialist Party, released a statement on July 26 on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
He said in the statement that the shining victory won by the DPRK in the three-year-long hard-fought sacred war against the U.S. under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung marked an epoch-making event to be specially recorded in the human history and set a heroic example showing how to protect the dignity and happiness of the independent people from the imperialists' invasion.

Esto deviene el atentado a la dignidad y la soberania de la nacion coreana, flagrante violacion de la justicia y conciencia y abierto desafio a todos los coreanos y la sociedad internacional que demandan a Japon liquidar sus crimenes del pasado.
Nuestro pueblo nunca olvidara y ajustara la cuenta, cueste lo que cueste, de los ensangrentados crimenes de los imperialistas japoneses, que ocuparon ilegalmente a Corea y trataron de exterminar a la nacion coreana.
El servilismo a Japon de la banda de Lee Myung Bak del Sur de Corea hace cada vez mas abierta la ambicion de los reaccionarios japoneses de llevar a la realidad su viejo sueno de la "Esfera de coprosperidad de gran Asia oriental".
Nuestro pueblo no perdonara ni en lo minimo los crimenes y las tentativas de nueva agresion de Japon y los crimenes antinacionales de la horda de Lee Myung Bak.
Kim Jong Il recibe presente de delegacion china
Pyongyang, 1 de agosto (ATCC) -- El Dirigente Kim Jong Il recibio presente que le dirigiera la delegacion de los cuadros del Partido Comunista de China, de visita en Corea.
Li Jengzhen, presidente del Instituto de Historia del Partido del Comite Central del PCCh y subdirector de la escuela del Partido del CC del PCCh, quien preside la delegacion, lo entrego este viernes al presidente del Presidium de la Asamblea Popular Suprema de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, Kim Yong Nam.
Seminario sobre musica orquestal y coro "Cae la nieve"
Pyongyang, 1 de agosto (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar la vispera el seminario de la autoctona idea literaria y artistica sobre la musica orquestal y coro "Cae la nieve".
En la ocasion los oradores subrayaron que la obra maestra "Cae la nieve" creo la musica orquestal, el coro y la modalidad al estilo coreano y continuaron:
@Esta obra maestra de valor monumental de la epoca del Songun (priorizacion militar) materializo perfectamente la autoctona idea literaria y artistica del Partido del Trabajo de Corea consistente en readaptar e interpretar las canciones famosas del valor de patrimonio nacional como originales piezas musicales conforme a la realidad en desarrollo.
La magnifica interpretacion de la cancion "Cae la nieve" en forma de musica orquestal y coro exploro el nuevo terreno de la creacion de las piezas musicales en la epoca del Songun.
El exito mas importante de esta labor es que hizo brillar esa cancion predilecta del pueblo como patrimonio nacional al utilizar el genero musical capaz de describir al maximo nivel el contenido ideo-artistico de su melodia original.
El arreglo musical de "Cae la nieve" logro la profundizacion musical y filosofica gracias a la correcta busqueda de la clave de la cancion, desenvolvimiento de la obra en direccion de aclarar su tematica principal y al excelente proyecto y composicion musical.
Igualmente, se debio a la creacion de la modalidad al estilo coreano mediante el uso de los medios y metodos descriptivos con que fue buscada en el arreglo musical una tonalidad de denso matiz nacional conservando en lo fundamental la melodia original y combinando los instrumentos musicales nacionales con los occidentales.
La conversion de "Cae la nieve" en la obra maestra del nuevo siglo digna de representar la epoca del Songun es resultado de la incansable direccion del Dirigente Kim Jong Il.
Todos los creadores y artistas deben armarse firmemente con la idea y la teoria del Partido del Trabajo de Corea acerca de la literatura y arte y crear mucho mas obras maestras de la epoca del Songun empleando los exitos y experiencias logrados en la creacion de "Cae la nieve".
En este foro estuvieron presentes el ministro de Cultura Kang Nung Su, el presidente del Comite Central de la Federacion General de Escritores y Artistas de Corea, Kim Pyong Hun, los creadores, artistas, profesores y estudiantes de la rama.
Minju Joson condena acto traidor de Lee Myung Bak
Pyongyang, 1 de agosto (ATCC) -- Despues de terminada el 28 de julio la reunion ministerial del Foro Regional de ASEAN, fue tachado por la "peticion de la banda de Lee Myung Bak" el parrafo de la declaracion del presidente que apoyaba la Declaracion del 4 de Octubre aprobada entre el Norte y el Sur de Corea.
Al respecto, el rotativo Minju Joson publico este viernes un comentario individual que sigue:
Cuando fue incluido en la declaracion del presidente de dicha reunion de ASEAN el parrafo mencionado, Lee Myung Bak fustigo al "Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y Comercio".
Por su parte, el aturdido ministro exterior ordeno eliminarlo incondicionalmente al asistente del ministro, quien se encontraba en el lugar de la reunion.
Segun esa instruccion, los titeres surcoreanos suplicaron reiteradamente la omision del polemico parrafo a los funcionarios del MINREX de Singapur, pais presidente de la reunion ministerial del Foro Regional de ASEAN.
De esta manera, la banda de Lee revelo sin escrupulos en la escena internacional su naturaleza de traidores que niegan y rechazan la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio y la Declaracion del 4 de Octubre, programa para implementar la primera, y persiguen la confrontacion con el Norte de Corea.
En su "discurso sobre la politica gubernamental" pronunciado recientemente en la "Asamblea Nacional", Lee hablo de la posibilidad de debatir la Declaracion del 4 de Octubre.
Pero, esa abierta accion traidora cometida en Singapur comprobo que lo dicho por Lee fue una mentira pura para remediar su cada dia mas aguda crisis de gobernacion seduciendo al pueblo aspirante a la reconciliacion, la unidad y la reunificacion nacionales e induciendo en error a la opinion publica.
Desde el principio, Lee estuvo disgustado de dichas declaraciones porque se proponia frenar la corriente de la epoca hacia la reconciliacion, la unidad y la reunificacion de la nacion y hacer dano a los connacionales con la ayuda de EE.UU.
Como demuestra la realidad, Lee Myung Bak es politiquero mentiroso y estafador con quien no vale la pena tratarse.
Mientras permanecen en el "poder" del Sur de Corea los politiqueros estafadores de la calana de Lee, se vera obstaculizado siempre el camino de la reconciliacion, la unidad y la reunificacion de la nacion.
