WPK Sends Message of Greetings to Nigerian Party
Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Sunday sent a message of greetings to the National Executive Committee of the People's Democratic Party of Nigeria on the occasion of its 10th founding anniversary.
The message noted that the People's Democratic Party of Nigeria had achieved great successes in the struggle to build an independent and prosperous new society under the slogan of "Power to the people" for past 10 years since its founding.

Day of Victory in War Celebrated in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- The 55th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War was significantly celebrated across the country.
Working people in different parts of the country held multifarious functions on Sunday on the occasion of the day of the victory in the war.
Working people in North Hamgyong and South Hwanghae provinces held oratorical meetings with great pride and honor of having won in the war.

Youth and Students' Balls Held
Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- Dancing parties of youth and students were held in different parts of the country on July 27 to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
At dancing parties held at the plazas of the Monument to Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War, the April 25 House of Culture, the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium and other places in Pyongyang, youth and students presented sea of dances with the same jubilee as was witnessed on the war victory day when all the servicepersons and people of the DPRK raised cheers of joy and deep reverence, looking up to President Kim Il Sung, the invincible and iron-willed commander and the legendary hero.

Songs "Pride of Youth", "May the Country and the Youth Shine", "Hullari", "Let's Support Our Supreme Commander with Arms", "Let's Meet With Each Other at the Front" and "Let Us Soldiers Become Heroes" further enlivened the atmosphere of celebration.

Exhibition on Medical Scientific and Technological Development
Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- The 11th National Exhibition of Successes in Science and Technology of Public Health opened at the Three Revolution Exhibition in Pyongyang on July 21. It will remain open till 29.
Displayed in the exhibition are more than 2,000 inventions and new technological achievements made by medical workers, scientists and technicians of public health establishments at all levels across the country.
Conspicuous are new methods and medicines which are of great value in diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases, including "System for transmitting general image (sound) of operating theatre", "Chemical prevention of three-day fever malaria by primaquine" and "Nutritious pills of natural vitamins".
Also drawing attention of the visitors are "Calcium phosphate composite material for transplantation of artificial bones", an up-to-date body active material which has been widely applied to clinical treatment, and medical apparatuses of new types.
Meanwhile, lots of scientific and technological results made in Koryo medical science are on display. Among them are recently developed "Aid programme for judgment of hypertension prognosis " and "Aid programme for treatment of autonomic nerve disorders according to body constitutions."
Participants in the exhibition are sharing successes of medical science and technology and experience through scientific and technical presentations and information services.
All the exhibits, which are helpful toward the public health service, clearly show the developing medical science and technology of the country.
U.S. Crimes in Destroying Cultural Assets in Korea
Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- There were so many historic remains and relics everywhere in Korea, which were illustrative of the wisdom and soul of the nation.
But the U.S. imperialist aggressors destroyed all the cultural assets which were valued at national treasures during the Korean War in crude violation of the international convention.
Their bombing of Buddhist temples typifies their shocking barbarity.
Most Korean temples were located in deep mountains or in quiet nooks. So it was very difficult to bomb them.
U.S. bombers, however, flew into deep valleys and rabidly bombed ancient buildings, leaving no traces of them.
In May Juche 40 (1951) they pounded the Jangan Temple in one of the scenic wonders of Mt. Kumgang and in June they burned to ashes the wooden buildings of the Singye Temple including its main building.
They laid in ruins more than 40 buildings, the nine-storied pagoda and others of the Yujom Temple which was the largest of the four major temples in Mt. Kumgang and the center of over 60 temples in the mountain.
The Kwangbop Temple at the foot of Mt. Taesong in Pyongyang, the Sokwang Temple at the foot of Mt. Solbong in Kosan County, Kangwon Province, and other historic relics in different parts of the country were all badly destroyed or reduced to ashes.
The U.S. imperialists tried to wipe out the brilliant culture created by the Korean people through a long history spanning 5,000 years, but the DPRK has restored the historical remains and relics to their original state so that they may throw brighter rays as national treasures.
Implementation of Inter-Korean Declarations Called for
Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- The Korean nation's struggle to bring about a new turning point in the cause of national reunification by successfully implementing the October 4 declaration under the uplifted banner of the June 15 joint declaration has hit a snag owing to the moves of the Lee Myung Bak group that came to power in south Korea.
Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article.
The prevailing reality urgently requires all Koreans to more dynamically accelerate the cause of national reunification by holding fast to the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration as the programmes of the era of independent reunification and removing the hurdles lying in the way of their implementation, the article says, and goes on:
The prospect of the Korean nation's cause of national reunification fully depends on how it defends and implements the said declarations.
The declarations serve as the landmark indicating the shortcut to national reunification in the new century and programmes for reunification reflecting most correctly the requirement of the developing era and the desire of the nation. Nothing can replace the declarations in realizing the vital requirement and interests of all Koreans who earnestly wish for independent reunification, peace and prosperity at present.
The validity of the above-said declarations, in a word, lies in that they put forward the Korean nation as the driving force responsible for the movement of national reunification and indicated in detail the principles and ways of solving the issue of reunification by pooling the strength and wisdom of the Korean nation.
It is necessary for the Koreans to dynamically wage the nationwide struggle for implementing the declarations to consolidate the achievements already gained by the Korean nation and achieve national unity and reunification at an early date.
The stand on the declarations serves as a touchstone which distinguishes patriotism from treachery at present.
Neither national reconciliation and cooperation nor the development of inter-Korean relations, peace and prosperity would be thinkable apart from the declarations.
The Korean nation will never tolerate the treacherous moves of the Lee group who negate the reunification programmes common to the nation and stand in the way of their implementation, swimming against the trend of the times, concludes the article.
Replacement of Armistice Agreement by Peace Accord Urged
Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- 55 years have passed since the Armistice Agreement was signed between the DPRK and the U.S.
In this regard Rodong Sinmun Monday carries a signed commentary which says: In order to prevent the danger of a new war and ensure durable peace on the Korean Peninsula, there is no other way but to put an end to the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK and conclude a peace accord between them.
The above-said policy of the U.S. is a main obstacle to settling the pending issues such as the nuclear issue and ensuring peace on the peninsula, the commentary notes, and goes on:
The U.S. has systematically violated the fragile AA, instead of replacing AA by a peace accord on the peninsula.
The hostile policy enforced by the U.S. towards the DPRK has resulted in bedeviling not only the DPRK-U.S. relations but the inter-Korean relations. The situation is further deteriorating. The U.S. drop of the above-mentioned policy is, therefore, essential for defusing the tension and ensuring security on the peninsula. This is also in line with the interests of not only the north and the south of Korea but other countries around it.
The DPRK has consistently urged the United States to rectify its hostile policy toward the DPRK and replace the AA by a peace accord.
Had the U.S. rolled back the above-said policy as called for by the DPRK, no such complicated pending issues as what they are facing now would have surfaced between them.
The U.S. warlike forces are straining the situation behind the scene of the six-party talks while systematically escalating their military moves to invade the DPRK.
The military tension can never be defused on the peninsula nor can the danger of war be removed from there unless the U.S. drops the above-said policy and replaces the AA by a peace accord.
Everything depends on the stand and attitude of the U.S.
The U.S. should not evade its heavy responsibility as the party chiefly to blame for having deteriorated the situation on the peninsula and caused the nuclear crisis but respond as early as possible to the just call of the DPRK for replacing the AA by a peace accord. This would be beneficial not only to ensuring peace and security in Northeast Asia and other parts of the world but also to the U.S., concludes the commentary.
Suppression of KCTU Denounced in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- The Democratic Labor Party of south Korea denounced the Lee Myung Bak group for having issued warrants of arrest for core members of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) including Chairman Ri Sok Haeng.
The party in its statement on July 24 noted that the issue of the warrants was evidently "target investigation and abuse of power."
The security authorities seek to suppress the core members of the KCTU, a legal organization of workers, for the mere reason that it led the general strike and candlelight demonstrations and instructed its affiliated organizations to go on strike, the statement said, adding: This is an outright challenge to the just struggle of workers and a declaration of war against all the people who have turned out in the candlelight actions, and we will never pardon such moves.
The security authorities should stop suppression of the KCTU and those involved in the candlelight actions. If not, members of the DLP will struggle to the last together with workers and other people.
A spokesman for the DLP called a press conference on the same day, describing the suppression of the core members as defamation of the workers' organization and an infringement upon their rights.
U.S. Scheme to Increase Upkeep for Its Forces in S. Korea Assailed
Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Progress in south Korea called a press conference in a place near Kwanghwamun in Seoul on July 24 to denounce the moves to increase the upkeep for the U.S. forces in south Korea.
Speakers at the press conference stated that the "negotiations" recently held in the U.S. for the purpose of concluding a special agreement on the allocation of the upkeep for the U.S. forces in south Korea were in fact, humiliating ones to meet all requirements raised by the U.S.
They referred to the fact that since long ago the U.S. has forced the south Korean authorities to increase the share of the upkeep every year and recently it has demanded the latter raise its rate 50 percent.
They disclosed that the U.S. has used the fund allocated for the U.S. forces' presence in south Korea for transferring its bases, given that south Korea is not able to ascertain the consumption of the upkeep.
What arouses greater indignation is that the U.S. is persistently forcing south Korea to additionally increase the share of cost for its forces' presence in south Korea, they said.
They urged the authorities to disclose injustice of the system of the allocation of the upkeep and immediately repeal the system.
They warned that if the Lee Myung Bak group holds the "negotiations for drain on resources" by accepting the demand for the increased share of upkeep for the U.S. forces just as how it has done at the negotiations on the American beef import, it will face another resistance of the people who turned out with candlelight in their hands.
Anniversary of Victory in Korean War Observed
Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- Lectures were held by the Ugandan Group for the Study of the Juche Idea of Comrade Kim Il Sung of Old Kampala Higher Middle School and the Ethiopian Youth Study Group of the Juche Idea on July 21 and 22 on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
The chief of the Ugandan group in the lecture referred to the fact that President Kim Il Sung dealt bitter defeat at the enemies and brought the historic victory by dynamically arousing the army and the people of the young Democratic People's Republic of Korea in their sacred war to defend the country when the U.S. imperialists provoked the war of aggression to occupy the whole of Korea.
The feats performed by the President by leading the war to victory are being firmly guaranteed and they are shining more brightly thanks to the Songun policy pursued by Kim Jong Il, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, he added.
Nigatu Dagnachew, chairman of the Ethiopian group, in the lecture said that the DPRK defeated the U.S., boasted of being the "strongest" in the world, by dint of the political and ideological advantages of its army and people on the basis of the Juche-oriented military war methods, adroit operational commanding art and original Songun idea of the President.
Today the DPRK is more strikingly demonstrating its might as the political and military power under the Songun leadership of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il, he noted, stressing that Kim Il Sung's exploits of leading the war to victory will shine long.
Kim Jong Il's Songun Policy Praised in Bangladesh
Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- The Bangladesh-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Committee published a bulletin on July 22 on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
The bulletin in an article titled "The Songun policy, enchanting leadership art" said that the Songun policy of General Secretary Kim Jong Il has aroused trust and admiration from the world people as it is a good combination of the strict revolutionary principle and creation and adroitness. And the policy has turned the DPRK into the military power, which the imperialist allied forces dare not provoke, to reliably defend the dignity and sovereignty of the country and the nation, it added.
In another article titled "The U.S., the first defeated war" the bulletin briefed on the data of the war results scored by the Korean army and people, noting that the U.S. imperialists suffered a bitter defeat for the first time in history in the Korean War ignited by themselves and surrendered to the Korean people. And it stated that the U.S. should not forget the defeat and lesson drawn from the Korean War.
In an article titled "55 years after the ceasefire" the bulletin disclosed the fact that the U.S. has ceaselessly committed hostile actions against the DPRK in wanton violation of the Armistice Agreement after the war. If lasting peace is to be achieved on the Korean Peninsula, the U.S. should declare an end to the war and conclude a peace agreement as properly demanded by the DPRK, it held.
Korean People's Struggle for National Reunification Supported
Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- Czech, Moravian, Silesian Trade Unions' Association issued a statement on July 21 on the occasion of the 11th anniversary of the formulation of the three charters for national reunification by General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
The statement noted that the organization expresses full support and solidarity with the Korean people in their struggle to achieve the reunification of the country on the occasion of the 11th anniversary of the publication of Kim Jong Il's work "Let Us Carry Out the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Instructions for National Reunification".
The three charters for national reunification -- three principles for national reunification, 10-point programme for the great unity of the whole nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo--clarify the most fair and reasonable way of achieving the Korean reunification as soon as possible to suit the specific conditions of Korea where the differing ideologies and systems have existed for a long time in the north and the south, the statement said, and went on:
The charters serve as a banner for the Korean reunification and the most fair and realistic programme of the struggle for reunifying the country independently and peacefully.
The desire of the Korean people for the reunification and prosperity of the country can not be realized as long as the U.S. imperialists stay in south Korea.
The U.S. directly responsible for the issue of Korea should immediately repeal the hostile policy towards the DPRK and withdraw its armed forces from south Korea.
The Lee Myung Bak "government" of south Korea should stop sycophancy and submission to the U.S. and provocative moves against the DPRK at once

Pyongyang, 28 de julio (ATCC) -- Los periodicos centrales difundieron en sus ediciones del dia 27 los editoriales dedicados al 55o aniversario del triunfo en la Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria (1950-1953) enfatizando que esta victoria historica del pueblo coreano devino el brillante fruto de la autoctona idea del Songun (priorizacion militar) del Presidente Kim Il Sung y su direccion sobre la revolucion segun ella.
El diario Rodong Sinmun senala que la victoria en la guerra significo la de la ferrea voluntad, valentia incomparable, extraordinaria perspicacia militar, estrategia y tacticas del Presidente y de los excelentes metodos de combate creados por el, y prosigue:

Pyongyang, 28 de julio (ATCC) -- La derrota de Estados Unidos en la pasada guerra coreana fue la inevitabilidad de la historia. EE.UU. debe darse clara cuenta de la corriente de la historia y abandonar la anacronica ilusion de aplastar con fuerzas a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea.
Asi senala el periodico Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual fechado 27 dedicado a la victoria del pueblo coreano en la Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria y continua:
La superioridad numerica y tecnica de los imperialistas yanquis en la pasada guerra coreana se hizo anicos por la superioridad politico-ideologica, la estrategica y tactica del pueblo coreano.
La guerra coreana fue la contienda agresiva y ambiciosa y un acto de terror estatal de ultragrande tamano que libro EE.UU., caudillo del imperialismo aparecido despues de la segunda Guerra Mundial a fin de manifestar su poderio y aplastar las fuerzas socialistas.
Los imperialistas yanquis movilizaron en la guerra coreana enormes fuerzas armadas capaces de cumplir una guerra mundial, pero no pudieron evitar la derrota en la guerra.

Exhibicion de logros de ciencia y tecnica medicas
Pyongyang, 28 de julio (ATCC) -- En la Exposicion Permanente de las Tres Revoluciones de Pyongyang esta montada del dia 21 al 29 la XI edicion de la Exhibicion Nacional de Logros Cientifico-Tecnicos del Sector de la Salud.
En la ocasion fueron expuestos mas de 2 mil invenciones y nuevos logros tecnicos de los trabajadores de los organos de salud a todos niveles, cientificos y tecnicos del pais.
Llamaron la atencion de los visitantes los nuevos metodos y medicinas de gran valor en la diagnosis, curacion y prevencion de las enfermedades, entre otros, "El sistema de transmision de imagen (fonetica) general de la sala de operacion", "Prevencion quimica de malaria de tres dias de fiebre por primaquina" y "Tabletas de vitamina natural".
Tambien llamaron la atencion de los visitantes los nuevos aparatos medicos que surten gran efecto en el sector de la salud tales como "Material de hueso artificial combinado de fosfato calcico (HA-TCP)", "Modelo metalico del molde de fundicion electrolitica de la protesis dental", etc.
Ademas, se ven numerosos logros cientificos-tecnicos de medicina Coryo, entre otros, "El sistema de apoyo a la determinacion del pronostico de la hipertension", "Sistema de apoyo al tratamiento del trastorno de nervio autonomo segun las formas de constitucion fisica".
Los ponentes intercambian ampliamente los exitos y las experiencias en materia de ciencia y tecnica medicas a traves del simposio y el servicio de informatica.
